CHOCOLATE DESTINY, ARC 3

Amos and Touka hear the rattling of many chains behind them. A metal portcullis falls into place over the inner gate.
"No, you idiots!" shouts the halfling, still on the other side. "They're already through!"

She pulls out one of the knives and throws it with all her might at one of the cloaked targets infront of them.

Amos scans the surrounding area for the safest way to progress towards the keep.

Amos sees the possible routes fall into two categories:

• a direct approach, hugging the curve of the keep wall. Its safety depends on how dangerous he considers the cloaks they will have to go through.
  
• an indirect approach looping around behind one or more of the outbuildings, which will cover them from keep fire but expose them to firing positions on the outer wall, assuming there is anyone to take them up. It will also likely take longer.
  

Touka throws the knife.

The dagger flies with brutal, lethal force...through the air right over the cloaks.

"If their mage is so powerful he can conjure lethal revenants at a moments notice then so be it! I CALL YOUR BLUFF YOU FOUL SOUL YOU!"

Amos dives in to assault the ghostly cloaks. He swings only to make contact with each image, he understands the vane-blade will finish the job on its own.

Sure enough, the shadow warps into nothingness as it is hit. The rest lose their formation, drifting listlessly.
A shriek comes from the keep, and a man appears on the balcony with a drawn bow. He sights and fires at Amos.

The arrow misses him by an inch. The man prepares to nock another.

Amos tries to dodge the arrow by sprinting out of the line of fire. "Your games are akin to a mosquito's bite! Can you not be useful and off yourselves petty thieves?"

IC: Clicking her tongue she looks around her for something to throw at the archer.

"You first." He looses.

Amos dodges the arrow, heading for the base of the keep.
Touka sees an unwieldy looking jar, and of course there are two knives still stuck in her back. It looks like she could also tear a brick or beam from one of the buildings, but that would take a while.

She looks around the balcony to see if there is something she can climb up to reach the archer.

The balcony is about three stories up, and the walls are mostly smooth.

"We can ream his skull with a blunt object later. Get out of his line of fire and lets find a way in!"

"Nonono, it's fine, you're good where you are." Another arrow is let loose.

Touka takes it in the chest. Chains rattle, and the portcullis begins to rise.

Touka stumbles back from the force of the blow of the arrow, but shortly recovers and pulls one of the daggers from her back and throws it at the archer to distract him as she runs after Amos.

"Maybe we can cut our way through the warriors they are about to send at us and maim their god damned mage."

Amos begins frantically writing up an article for linking velocity. ("Just 60 seconds") He thinks to himself.

Amos and Touka run beside the curving wall and reach the doors of the keep on the other side. This puts them back in the archer's line of fire.
They hear the inner gate's portcullis stop rising, followed by footsteps.

Touka provides cover for Amos as they are running.

"Almost done! Just a few more algorithms and one more interface before I can augment myself. And if we live, maybe we'll actually find our way to the capital yet."

The archer lets off one arrow, then another.

Touka manages to intercept an arrow with her club. The other plunges into Amos' left shoulder. The gruff halfling comes into view around the bend of the wall. He throws a dagger, and the archer fires a third shot.

Amos acquires a matching set of shoulder arrows. Touka's arm gets slashed by the dagger.

(If not dead or in shock) Amos moves under the archers firing perch to get out from his firing line.

Touka switches her club to her less dominant hand (right), pulls the dagger out and after a moment of taking aim throws the dagger at the at the halfling and another at the archer.

"I'm done in a second here. Once I am I need you to throw me up and at the archer. This spell here should help give me a boost." Amos looks weakly at the arrows in his shoulders. "I think I need another draught too."

Amos leans against the wall underneath the balcony, safe from arrows at least. Touka gets her chucks on:

In a stroke of almost unbelievably bad luck, the halfling's throw also flies wide, hitting nothing but the ground after a rather lazy half spin.

Amos reaches for a draught and quaffs one down before he dies. The ungodly pain of using his arms while they are impaled by arrows is only endurable because of the knowledge that the pain will soon go away.

"This will hurt." As gently as she can she pulls out the arrows from his shoulders, then turns her attention to the assailants to protect Amos.

ooc: afaik you are still under the effects of the regeneration potion, should heal up very quick.

[Oh, then I don't drink more]

Amos clenches his teeth as the arrows are pulled out. As his wounds close he raises article and passes it to Touka. "Wrap this around your hand, throw me at the archer and punch towards in the direction I ascend."

She nods slowly, clearly confused by his request. and carefully wraps the handed item around her hand, afterwards she roughly grabs Amos and throws him at the archer. She then throws a punch at him as he is flung towards the archer.

Amos activates the article as he is thrown.

Touka hefts up the weight of a full grown man with some difficulty, throwing Amos a short distance up into the air.
Amos' stomach lurches as he rises, his body feeling that it will not be airborne for long.
His body is wrong.
The velocity link activates, and Touka thrusts her fist skyward.
Instead of succumbing to gravity Amos speeds up, an unseen force taking hold and propelling him farther up and further in.
He soars over the lip of the balcony and crashes into the surprised archer, sending them both tumbling to the floor.

Meanwhile the halfling manages to overcome his stupefaction and throw another dagger Touka's way.

The blade slips between ribs and slices up Touka's guts.

Amos flails his knee into the archer and brings his the vaneblade's edge into the infuriating fellow. (Amos also quickly gestures with the governing article to turn off the link effect, if it hasn't already burned out).
