Darrius is tries to think up a clever way of mining the asteroids to plant explosives (logic test)

You approach the problem from every angle and cut through it with every methodology you've used but it appears that effective placement of the fuel within the asteroid is simply impossible in the current situation. However your examination of the problem leads you to realize you could use the cargo as a makeshift minefield. Furthermore your logical thinking leads you to expect the enemy will stay clear of asteroids regardless considering the danger they pose.

Darrius puts his hand up to signal the men to hold their positions. He then moves silently up the stairs to hopefully get the jump on whatever could be up the stairs

You pull up into the hall and are bathed in red emergency lighting that is still operational down the course of the hall. You see a dark figure that is holding a gun towards your direction. You can't quite make it out just yet. What do you do?

Darrius freezes, but using his training keeps his cool and takes a second to assess the situation better

It is difficult to make out even basic details. Make some form of perception test.

The figure seems to be poking just their head out from a hall they are hiding in.

After trying to discern more about the figure you only make out the head of the creature must be plated in heavy armor and very patchwork at that. It looks like another abomination stands behind it.

Darrius stays low in the stairwell so as to make himself as difficult a target a possible. He then raises his hellgun and lets lose a burst of fire at the figures

Before hiding low in the stair way more entities burst forth from the hall and fire las blasts at you. A hail of shots go by but only one hits you for 11 damage (0 pen).

Darrius before he can even fire takes a shot to his the chest that cuts fairly deep in his chest that wounds him slightly. In response Darrius lets lose a volley of fire and shouts "FOR THE EMPEROR!!!"

Your shots fly true. The attacks reduces the target's arm to a cloud of ash and sends the target crumbling to the ground where he immediately dies from shock, clutching his smoking stump.

Darrius walks over to one of the mercenary captains while Jarrion is speaking to the prisoners and whispers into one of their ears

"I'm not sure if Lord Xanatov is going to be to keen on killing these damn heretics. When I give the order to fire on them you and your men shoot them all down."

"Very will Lord Vendigroth, my men will get into position."

Vendigroth journeys into Footfall with a retinue of two armed guards. He goes to a well known information exchange. Unfortunately as things go in this business it is often the less famous info-dens that possess knowledge worth paying for.

From a bird's eye view the building is shaped like swiss cross. Each extension goes five hundred meters from the center. The building is four stories tall and decorated 31st millenium Aurelian buttresses and spires. The typical gamut of imperial iconography adorns the banners and doorways. Inside rooms sectioned off by burly guardsmen and bunker walls line the main corridors. Inside each space some form of "legal-adjacent" information trade is occurring.

Darrius makes his way to one of the areas where a guide knowledgeable in which particular groups of people know about what types of things. He asks about somewhere where a man may sell some drugs as well as where one might procure a ship

A clerk posted near the entrance points out a room where Darrius could buy info on who is in the market for drugs. The clerk also informs you that no one at a known info-exchange would be selling reliable information on a salvageable ship's whereabouts.

Darrius seeks audience with the man selling information about the drug selling. He'll have to dig a little deeper into the more illegitimate sources of information about the ship

Audience with an informant on drug trade is achieved. Vendigroth pays the fellow his fee for identities of groups that sell xenos drugs and learns of a handful of groups that would pay dearly for the Xanthrin.

Darrius congratulates himself for probably the first successful endeavor this whole time with a drink. He then heads out to find some black market informants who would be better suited to answering his questions about a ship

Darrius portrays himself with just the right touch of terror and menace that hints and answers flow forth like a torrential downpour on the death planets Vendigroth lead troops on during his days in the guard. The trail points Vendigroth to the darkest depths of powerful circles in footfall. He rides a shuttle to a powerful fortress that ominously and namelessly hovers above all of footfall. There, if anywhere, would be someone possessing knowledge on a ready and willing ship patiently waiting in the deep void of the Koronus expanse.

The fortress is immense, no less that fifteen stories tall and perhaps even as tall as thirty some. The twisting and interweaving of the spires makes it difficult to guess at the true enormity of the floating palace. Darrius steps off the shuttle with only his weapons and himself onto a smoothed out terrace. Specks of stone float idly through the air but you are firmly held down by gravity. The path in front of you leads up to a small flight of stairs and further to a pair of doors of such a size rarely seen throughout the imperium (perhaps four or five stories in height). The doors themselves have the appearance of black iron and vivid yellow banners with the following symbol emblazoned upon them in black:



Four servitors clad in yellow tabards and wielding strange xenos weapons stand in front of the massive doors.

I use common lore Imperium, probably as effective as splash right not but lets go for it

Darrius befuddled by the symbol procedes towards the door in a practiced military pose (shoulders back and such)

Vendigroth walks the path and stops in front of the servitors. Up close he can tell even with only the most rudimentary of knowledge about machines that these are servitor models intended for brutal warfare. They stand there motionlessly and soullessly staring at him.

Darrius clears his throat and says to the servitors

"I am here to seek an audience with your master. I wish to discuss business in hopes of procuring some information in exchange for either money or service."

The chest of the servitor on the far right audibly whirs an cranks as the four stare at Darrius blinking exactly every twenty seconds. A few minutes pass and the enormous black iron doors behind them open up inwards. This is accompanied by the heavy sound of grinding, as you would expect from such large pieces of metal being moved. From the small terrace outside the doors Darrius can see some of a round room with a number of brass colored gates and more iron. This time the iron has a black-grey marbled color pattern to it.

Darrius nods to the servitors and says "thank you" even though he knows they likely don't care he figures better safe than sorry.

He then makes his way into the now opened doors to see if there is anyone there waiting for him or for some other clue as to what the master of the house wants for him to do

Inside and immediately to his right stands a grey haired man looking to be in his late sixties. The elderly man wears a very simple garb:



He is bowing before Darrius with one arm on his back and the other tucked under his stomach. Darrius cannot see the man's face from this angle. "Lord Vendigroth, it would honor me greatly if you would follow me."

Darrius is a little baffled at the man knowing his name before he had ever introduced himself but he rolls with it

"After you sir"

As they walk Darrius makes polite conversation about the wonders of the house and its history

The butler does not respond to Darrius as he leads the Seneschal through the corridors, stairs and lifts. Some halls bear the standard series of portraits that would decorate any noble's home, others are covered in fearsome xenos beast heads and weapons, imperial and otherwise. Not a single other soul is observed in the halls you are led through. Finally Vendigroth is led up a spiral staircase into a throne room. Atop a wooden throne studded with black iron rivets and a sculpted pair of lion head shaped hand rests sits a completely bald dark skinned man. The man dons a black suit of power armor and on the armor is a yellow downward pointing chevron. Darrius cannot see completely from where he is standing but he can make out a thick and immaculate black fur cape resting under the man.

Before Darrius can react the man excitedly leaves his throne and walks towards Darrius (throne room is approximately 40 feet long). As he approaches he yells out in a deep but eager voice "Oh you must be Vendigroth! Seneschal to the new reigning Rogue Trader of the Solstice, Xanatov or whoever! Once I heard your of your ambitions I made it a prerogative of mine to have you sent here. Come we should discuss business!"

Darrius is taken aback for a second by the straightforwardness and grandeur of the man before him. Darrius quickly regains his composure and says to the man

"You have me at a disadvantage sir. I had not realized that our arrival and actions at Footfall would merit the attention of someone as high up as yourself. It would be rude of me to not address you by your name and title but alas I have no knowledge of it as the men who had pointed me this way hadn't said who they were sending me to"

As he says this Darrius gives a respectful bow to the man

"No need for pleasantries Vendigroth. (He laughs magnanimously) I am a friend and I hope you can call me that. Or perhaps comrade, chaver, tomodachi, whatever word for friend that suits you. I do profess that I just gathered my information about you three hours ago. As soon as I caught word of your goal."

Darrius thinks to himself "Fine if you're going to avoid my question and not tell me your name so be it. Ill play along"

"Then you must know of our interest in procuring another ship from this sector? My search for someone who had that kind of information has led me here."

As he says this Darrius smiles to the man. Considering how infrequently this happens it's probably able to shatter glass

"Yes yes, and I in fact know the whereabouts of an easily salvageable vessel." He frowns over-enthusiastically "There is a very large issue that the ship is rumored to be cursed. The raider is called The Bleeding Soul, would you be interested in pursuing it?"

"I've never been one to lick a gift horse in the mouth but what exactly are the rumors of what's cursing it? We're not afraid to go to a cursed ship. It certainly won't be our first or last encounter with cursed objects."

'Friend' snaps his fingers and the butler comes forth bearing a small data-vault. "There is a star map stored in the data vault that will point you towards the Bleeding Soul. Oh and for your captain." 'Friend' snaps again and the butler pulls out a small vial of powder. "For his space-syphilis he should mix this in water and consume it."

Darrius smiles at Friend

"You are well informed arent you? Surely you're not just giving us this information for free?"
