As the advisers leave the command bridge, Jarrion hurries up to walk beside Mekarn.

"Hey Darwin, I was hoping to ask a favor of you.  I'm going to be running around trying to get this landing party ready for the next 24 hours.  Could you send me the data you get from the improved scan as you as you receive it?"

After talking to Mekarn, Jarrion walks off in search of Edes and Vendigroth.  As he hunts the halls, he makes sure to stop by any troops he sees and encourage them, keeping their spirits up and prepared for the coming expedition.

Ontar replies "If you seek the insights of the machine-spirit send a soul to retrieve it from me."

Bogged down by trying to raise the morale of crew members in the halls Nazier vanishes from sight. She is quite likely with her caucus of advisers.

[Waiting for Vendigroth's initial action to see if you catch up with him]

"Alright men, let's try to keep vox silence from here on out," Jarrion says through normal speaking to the men behind him. He moves up the stairway slowly, trying to move quietly , with his arms raised and ready to shoot.

You pull up into the hall and are bathed in red emergency lighting that is still operational down the course of the hall. You see a dark figure. You can't quite make it out just yet. What do you do?

Jarrion pulls his head back behind the corner and whispers to his men about the dark figure. "Do any of you have a good, quiet, long-range weapon you could use to take it down? It is about 70 m away. I wasn't able to determine any details."

One of the men replies "Any of these lasguns can fire easily within 100 meters, probably could hit them even up to 200)

"Of course. I was asking if you had any special weapons. Maybe unique keepsakes you happen to have from your previous travels. But apparently not. Let me take another glance around and see of anything has changed."

Jarrion sticks his head around the corner, making absolutely sure to keep his head very low. Since he is currently on stairs, this is practical.

The figure off in the distance seems harder to spot now although stationary.

Jarrion peers through the gloom, trying to discern more details about the mysterious figure.

The figure seems small and with a disfigured body. You think you might see the makings of small horns protruding from the figures outline.

Ducking back to his troops for a moment, Jarrion whispers "It looks like he's a mutant.  I'm going to try and shoot it.  If you men come up here, then we can do a concentrated volley.  What do you say?"

"Safer to fire a barrage all at once, on the count of 3 sir?"

"Perfect.  On 3 then." Jarrion moves up to the corner and preps his lasgauntlets to fire semi-auto (which gives +10 on the ballistic test).

You and your group fire off a salvo of las blasts. Your own shots and those of four of the mercenaries' miss. One mercenary lands his hits his target.

As shots are returned from down the hall you swear you can hear Darrius' voice yelling "FOR THE EMPEROR"

Shots fly by your and your men but two crash horrifically into one of the mercenary's right arms. His arm is disintegrated there and then, he falls back crumbling onto the floor where he dies from shock while clutching his smoking stump.

You make it down one corridor before the Eldar tackle you. They surround you with weapons at the ready. "Remove your weapons human."

Jarrion tosses his lasgauntlets at one of the Eldar.  "Here you go.  Let's head off." He hurries down the hall.

The Eldar almost shatters your weapons in rage, but he doesn't.

They follow you with ease and after 10 minutes of running you make it to the catacombs that are the power generator.

Jarrion calls out to Selena. "Use my thoughts.  At power generator now.  i need to leave soon.  Tell me when I can go." While he does this he confidently pokes around the machines, making it look like he knows what he's doing.

"I apologize, this is 30 seconds late. Run."

Jarrion starts moving, shouting over his shoulder, "Now witness the power of this fully armed and operational battle fleet.  They may have targeted an incorrect part of the ship.  We need to run."

Immediately an explosion bursts through the nearby wall just barely missing you and instead obliterating all but one of the Eldar that were accompanying you.

The vessel rattles and shakes from the blow. More explosions ensue along the generator.

"RUUUN!!! RUUUUUUUUUNNNN!!!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!" Jarrion screams as he sprints.

The Eldar collapses and sobs. You do not wait to see if he follows before you make your escape.

On your way back you read a sign pointing to an armory. You cannot be certain how far it is off course but it is certainly a detour.

Knowing that he doesn't want to arrive back at the bridge unarmed and escortless, Jarrion starts following the signs.

You hurry through halls and through unnecessarily ominous doors and have found your way to an Inquisition armory.

The walls are decked with imperium weapons of all sorts. You can see all imperium guns of rare quality and lower available here.

Jarrion quickly grabs a bolt pistol (ceres) and a meltagun (mezoa).  He knows he needs serious firepower if he's going to fight the Eldar.

If you are finished in the armory return to the main thread.

While still in the warp, Captain Jarrion sends a messenger to Camlann, asking the Head of Security if he will come to a private meeting, just the two of them.  There are no further details in the message, but it is clear that Camlann should be as discreet as possible.

"I'll be there." Camlann arrives at the appointed time. "Now what's all this about then?"

"I was wondering if you might know anything about Lord Vendigroth's movements  over the past few days.  I know you and he may not get along very well, and I don't expect to hear tales of your time together.  However, you currently have the nearest thing to a police force present on this ship and I hope you have some information for me."  Jarrion then coughs, and looks at Camlann more intently.

"There is another matter, this time of the utmost importance.  I wish to discuss the current plans you have implemented for the security of the Lord Captain.  I intend no offense, but your previous previsions were not effective.  We need to make them better.  I do not wish to end up staked to my bed."

"Well, I have the watch doubled on your quarters and places where you would be alone..." He furrows his brow. "It's difficult to improvise without knowing the exact nature of our foe. What I have surmised though, is that the assassin must have boarded the Solstice from the space hulk we visited before. We need to have some way of detecting unauthorized entry and stowaways."

"Perhaps after we have gathered a coterie of specialists we could purchase a set of sensor systems. For now, we will have to do with extra guards. You should set up checkpoints at various locations throughout the ship to cut down on stowaways. Perhaps you can recruit some more me. For the guard from our crew."
