Church missions
I have briefly talked about missions in this game and as far as i know it is being implemented so I thought I'd post a more detailed explanation about the system as well as a few examples of rewards that are in the process of being made. If I'm wrong and it has been decided that missions will not be in the game delete this.
For starters sometime during day one you will either get a visit at your home by one of my assistants in game who will tell your character about the missions and give you a way to accept missions without going all the way to the church to get a mission (although missions gotten this way will generally be low risk low reward missions). Missions will be ranked on a 5 star scale. One to two star missions are the easiest mainly being a fetch an item or information gathering. Three star quests are a bit more difficult you will most likely be tasked with bringing in low risk humans who know of the war to have there minds wiped of the information so at the very least you will need some skill in information gathering to find them. Four star missions will generally be the same as three star missions but the targets will be more dangerous (gangsters, armed men, cops) and most of the time will not come along quietly and may require combat. Five star will be people of power who try and interfere in the grail war such as other magi, weaker Dead Apostles and as such there is a chance you can die. These missions will only be given out to people who have proven themselves.
Now as for rewards you will not be given a reward based on the mission, instead you will be given a number of "prize tickets" based on the mission that way you can do as many missions as you want and can save up to get an item you want. Spells gotten from rewards will generally be more powerful then what a player can make or have beneficial effects that a regular spell will not have but those spells will cost a lot of tickets to get as a result. Here are a few examples of items i have made so far.
three ticket items:
Agi Rune
A single use fire spell that has decent area and deals burn damage for two turns.
Thrown item
Weapon: 20
Area: 5
Special effect: -10 damage for two turns

Re: Church missions
Nina is right My character is named Louis Cypher he will be your supervisor for the war and he doesn't have any plans to win the grail for himself or summon a greater demon using the mass of powerful emotions that people put on the net in blogs and such on the internet...that use to be the plan though.

facepalms
I swear matt i regret introducing you to that game. Anyway if he is using the character i am pretty sure he is using he is the megami tensei series version of lucifer who rebeled against that games version of god who was little more then a tyrant. so in effect he was going to be a character who while somewhat evil wants the best for humanity.

Re: Church missions
I think I might have mentioned this before but I don't want a Kotomine descendant involved. Also about half of our players are rabid mmorpg veterans so to remind them that this server isn't PvE I will kill you off when the time is right.
Re: Church missions
@Nina: Oh, okay then.
@Char and CR: If you kill other players, will you get their tickets?

Re: Church missions
Haven't decided yet but most likely yes but the tickets will be stored on a digital device and you will need a certain level in electronics to hack the machine.

Re: Church missions
You mean besides using it to hack into databases and create stuff?

Re: Church missions
You mean besides making electronic surveillance cameras and robots and applying disguise to make them undetectable and then send them around to stalk everyone as well as your own database in case someone has a memory wipe spell and plans for a sentry gun system posted around the city? Not that anybody did this in a game of RB, they would never even think about it
