Filthy Xenos Adventures in Space

The Brifel answers after the Vuloir, "I understand you metal one." The voice is quite and grated but still understandable.

"What energies surround this place, that my eyes are darkened and my mind is wracked with doubt? What is this place?"

"The Resonance that Duwaine gives us is not a power most can stand within without suffering greatly for it. Beware you do not anger Duwaine with your questions like those before you lest he call upon Yivile to smite you."

"I do not know what questions I may or may not ask. Perhaps we could speak somewhere this Resonance is less powerful? I have a great many questions to ask."

"Then ask your questions but know Duwaine's Resonance cannot be escaped here."

"Very well." Aten gathers his scattered thoughts as best he can before he speaks.

"I have traveled here on behalf of Lord Phaeron Trazyn, the Infinite. I thought to find you all more surprised at my presence. Have you seen Necrons before on your planet?"

Once you say the word "Necron" and gust of wind blows in from behind the Brifel. With a brief flicker all of the lights go out leaving you totally in the dark. You cannot see anything and you do not hear a thing. As you try and gather yourself and figure out what is going on you suddenly hear a loud thudding sound come from behind you in the direction you came in. The sound is coming closer and you'll have to act fast if you don't want to suffer whatever is on its way.

Aten will call out to his men over coms, trying to see if they are still in contact. Already assuming the worst, he quickly moves to the side, hoping that this loud thudding thing will move past him. His gauss flayer is drawn and primed.

You, Aten-Nefru, who have witnessed untold terrors of a unforgiving galaxy seen first hand your family murdered before you and the atrocities of the War in Heaven, and have existed for several million years, cower in the darkness against a wall hoping that whatever is coming leaves you alone. The loud thudding begins to get louder and louder as it draws near. Soon you begin to hear a loud and deep throated growling noise and soon after that the audible sound of deep breathing can be heard. Eventually whatever it is enters into the the room and you finally can see whatever it is as you hide to the side. A pair of large yellow eyes are visible even in the darkness fully eighteen meters up. Whatever it is the creature as massive and it continues to stalk forward with great thuds of its footsteps against the ground.

Aten-Nefru, Lord of the Nefru dynasty, survivor of millions of years of galactic turmoil, does not cower in the corner. He stands tall and straight, unable to hide, due to hisinexplicably glowing eyes and weapon.

"Why didn't these Necrons ever think about how obvious it would make them?" Lae'orenar wonders. Regardless, Aten stands in plain view of the mysterious creature, having moved only because it is stupid to stand in front of something 18 meters tall.

Then so you stand confident in your ability to survive this monstrosity you can't even see save the glowing yellow eyes which state right at you and your Necrons. A loud and deep breath is inhaled and an even louder roar is exhaled with such force that it shakes your metalix frame. Roll initiative

Too slow to act, the monster charges forward right into the group of Necrons and the yelow eyes come down. One of your warriors immediately disappears into what you can only presume to be its mouth and a resounding crunch rings across the room. Your remaining four warriors fire off arks of Gauss fire revealing the shape of the enormous monster.

The impacts of the Gauss weaponry against the creatures frame appears to have little effect but one shot manages to find a soft spot in the creatures armor and it bellows out a angry roar.

You fire off a burst of Gauss into the creature but to no avail. The darkness makes hitting your shots against even its massive frame too difficult and the one shot that lands fails to cause any noticeable damage. In retaliation to the counter attack by your warriors the creature swipes with both of its claws into the one that wounded it shattering the tough necrodermis body of the warrior and sending the bits and pieces sliding across the floor. The situation is looking dire and unfortunately, despite your warriors best efforts, they fail to wound the creature a second time.

"Very well.  As we Necrontyr learned throughout the War in Heaven, discretion is the better part of valor.  Hold the line boys!!!  Hold the line!!!" He shouts as he runs away from the crystal T. Rex as fast as possible, in the dark.

And so you run! You run! You run! You run! Fearing death at the hand of this... thing you leave your loyal warriors behind to die at the hands of this monster. Running straight away from the thing you at first are given the reassurance of the fact you didn't run straight into a wall though you are in total darkness and the only light you have is that coming from your Gauss flayer. The sounds of battle continue for a little while longer behind you and the sound of claw on metal sounds out through the passageways reminding you of what fate awaits you at its hands. Using the little light you have you manage to keep yourself from running face first into any walls and lengthy hallway after lengthy hallway you go. You find it strange that the halls of this frigate are so tall and wide as the little light you have isn't able to illuminate the ceiling yet alone both walls at once. Eventually, a triumphant roar echoes through the halls presumably the result of the monsters victory over your warriors.

Your flight continues on for several more minutes and you can hear the thudding sounds of the monsters footsteps coming after you. As the footsteps get closer and closer you begin to panic and look around for a quick escape rout lest you be torn apart like the others and nobody know of your story. Eventually you succeed and you spot a door leading into some unknown room. Not having the time to worry about the dangers you sprint in and hide behind a crate you quickly find. Alone you hide and eventually dare a peak around the corner only to have the enormous yellow eye come into the door frame and stare right at you. You stare right back not daring to move and hoping it won't notice your glowing eyes. Miraculously, the thing appears to have not seen you and moves on, stomping down the hallway to continue its hunt.

Aten would slump against the crate in relief, but his metal body makes such actions unnecessary. He realizes that exiting this room and re-entering the twisted bowels of this strangely shaped cruiser is folly. Instead, he decides to investigate the room that has provided him succor. With the small amount of light available, he decides to focus on smaller details first. For example, what is inside these crates?

You first pop open the crate that you hid behind. This proves fairly easy thanks to the melee attachment standard in Gauss flayers. Using the little light you have you peer inside to find what appears to be bags of water. In low gothic they say on them "Saline." Moving about the room you notice a number of tables long enough for a human to lie on but certainly not you and in the other crates you find things like painkillers, blood bags, and surgical equipment. In addition to all of this you find something rather unsettling; growing out of cracks and fractures in the metal walls, floor, and ceiling are more black crystals forming jagged rocks.

Medical supplies., How interesting given Firsa's faux distress call, Aten muses. However, he cannot stay here for long. He must return to the Tuktakta so this information can reach the others. Once the sounds of the crystalline T. rex have totally faded, he slinks out from the room and tries to find some way out (not even the way he came, just out of this god-forsaken vessel).

You hold and listen intently for the monster to leave. In due time the sounds of its thudding footsteps fade away and you dare to enter back into the hallways again. You walk and walk carefully, slowly, and as quietly as possible. You pass by two other rooms without incident which also appear to have been medicae rooms except with cots likely to act as more permanent holding for those more seriously wounded. As you continue on you begin to hear the sound of music ringing through the halls. It sounds like it's in Vuloir and you are starting to see a bright light coming from down the hall. What do you do Aten?

Throwing caution to the winds Aten will approach the light!!!

Figuring how much worse could it get Aten charges forward towards the strange light. Well, approaches cautiously more like. You move forward and the sounds of hymns become louder and louder and you recognize them to be in Vuloir. As you come closer you are blinded and stumble the rest of the way forward into a full blown ceremony in an Imperial chapel.

Among the seats are more of the black cloaked Vuloir each of them singing hymns up towards an enormous statue made entirely of the black crystal. The statue emits a strange unearthly glow from within its center and is shaped into the form of what you immediately recognize to be a Necron. You don't have much time to examine it in detail however as simultaneously the entire congregation of about two hundred stop singing, turn to you looking at you with their red eyes, and are blinded by spotlights that had been illuminating everything turned on you.

"Greetings, Vuloir!!" Aten calls out in his best Vuloir. "I apologize for interrupting your sacred ceremony, but I must have your attention for a few minutes more. I am offering a great prize to those of you brave enough to join me! Adventure and plunder awaits you! Join me and rise to the very heavens themselves!"

His brain, already weak from Duwaine's Resonance, may have finally snapped. Clearly running will not save him. At this point, only bluster will.

You hear a voice come from behind you "So that is your true purpose on Cresha interloper?" You turn to see the Brifel standing behind you, the air distorts around her but still you cannot see anything underneath the cloak except the pair of red eyes. "You seek to take us from Duwaine and into Yiviles domain. You would see us all destroyed by her brilliant power as she strikes us down for insolence. You are Ulantar, the accursed one." The last part is said in Necrontyr and you begin to feel some pressure crushing you from all angles

"I shall not take any who are unwilling. I merely offer the opportunity to explore. Surely some of you must wonder where the ships that fall to your surface come from. You can see ships like these, and thousands more. Miraculous modern marvels mirroring magnificient monarchs!!!"

The only response you get is the sound of your metallic legs being torn from your torso. You crumble to the ground with a thud and your legs clang to the metalix floor soon after. The Brifel leers down at you and says "The heavens bring only death. We will ensure you do not harm us further Ulantar." With that your vision goes dark.

Firsa and Dubshredda. It's been some time since you last heard from Aten. Last you heard he was heading towards a wreckage of an Imperial frigate. Unfortunately you don't have the chance to do anything about it you are alerted to a breach in the cold room aboard the Tanorum

"'No miss Firsa, you're the best pilot in the Halo Stars.'

'No sir smiles-blond, you're the best pilot in the Halo Stars!'

On the bridge, Firsa notices the flashing BREACH message beside the cold room icon and shakes her head abruptly, as though waking up from a trance.

'FI-NA-LEEEEE! I was getting bored out of my mind waiting for something to happen. I'd think Aten would have phoned back at some point by now...'

The captain leans over to the comms area, 'necron unit 3480, please put aside your duties briefly and investigate the breach in the cold room. Report back by vox as soon as you observe the situation.'"

You get a reply of "Roger roger" like certain droids from a legendary movie series. You think for a second that the Necron was trying to be funny until you remember they're lobotomized drones so the odds are against it. You get a reply five minutes later

"Caltain, the area designated cold room has been torn assunder. Several units have been broken in the process and the door is open to the passageway. The dead creature from the surface is no longer present."

"'Attention people of the Tanurom, we retrieved a creature from this planet's surface and it is now loose on the ship. It's last known location was the cold room. Pilots, make all haste to the hangar and seal the blast doors once all are accounted for. Honor guard, report to the bridge armed and ready for combat. Necron crew, stand your ground. If you encounter the creature, immediately log your position and the time, then try to resist. Once we have the creature's coordinates I want that baby sealed in tight.'"

Not too much later you get a call from the pilots in the bridge "CAPTAIN! CAPTAIN! It's here! There's some horrible light coming from it! SHOOT IN MEN SHO..." the last part is cut off by the sound of tearing flesh. Over the sounds of the vox you can hear the sounds of gunfire, roaring, and a strange buzzing sound.

"'Shit, why couldn't it have gone after the necrons??'

'Pilots! Into your ships! Keep that thing running in circles in the open with our speed and fire power. Use the fighter's weapons if you have to. Once everyone's inside, release the power field and send that thing into the void!'

In the mean time, Firsa suits up and tries to meet her honor guard."

The only response from the pilots who apparently have a tendency of getting shit on when not flying is "It's breaking the ships Captain!"

You meat up with your honor guard after gathering your gear and start running off towards the hanger. As you approach the sounds of shuriken shots are dull in comparison to the loud roars bellowing forth from the direction you're heading. Upon arrival at the entrance you see two pilots sprawled in pools of their own blood with the doors into the hanger rent open. Rushing in you come across a scene of horror.

Rushing about the room attempting to kite the monster are several groups of the pilots in their gear firing as they run with shuriken pistols. You spot five other dead Eldar, three of which have been torn to pieces by the monster. The other two look as though their lesh has melted however and are more a pile of goo than flesh. Chasing after the separate groups of pilots are clouds of what appear to be buzzing insects but they are too small individually to get a good look on them. The monster itself looks entirely different with THREE FUCKING HEADS NOW when the corpse had been decapitated, several extra razor sharp limbs, and an unearthly golden glow coming from it. You find that your mind hinders you looking into the golden light but you muster your will and force yourself to look into it. Atop the creature you manage to see a skeletal figure clad in what appears to be liquid glowing gold characteristic of the sun outside itself. You see it waving its hands periodically and the swarms of insects fly off in the direction of whatever group it gestures towards.

Aboard the Greenteef Smasha Dubshredda gets a report from a lowly grot. "BOSS BOSS! DERE'S CRASHIN 'ND BASHIN HAPPENIN ON DA UDDER SHIPS, WE 'EARZ 'OSSUN!". Dubshredda spins around from admiring his own armor and weapons and accidentally decapitates the grot in the process. "WUHAAAAT! FIGHTIN? DAS' BE EXCITIN! Fursha ain't gunna steal da glory! Boyz lets get ova dere!" Dubshredda and an uncounted glob of boyz make way to the shuttles that will take them to the Tanurom.

"Welp, that's going well," Tristan resigns leaning back a little bit. "How long would it be until the orkz get here? Do any of the creatures look damaged in any way by all the weapon fire?"

"There is only one creature and you don't know the Orks are coming so who knows. The weapons appear to be harming the thing but the wounds are regenerating faster than its being damaged." Desilco replies

"In that case, Firsa calls for support from Dubshredda before engaging the enemy. She then calls in all the armed necrons to hangar for battle. Finally, she runs for the nearest cover (hopefully something sturdy looking and close to the exit) and booms out in a commanding voice to her scattered crew.

'People of the Tanurom, captain Firsa has arrived, it's time for our rally! Hold your attacks until my signal. When I give the mark, everyone fire at the exact center that thing's body from all sides.'

[Now in the battle, Firsa's Into the Jaws of Hell grants her side immunity to fear and pinning]

Firsa takes the safety off her splinter rifle with a threatening *chick*.

'Say hello to hell bitch.'

'FIRE!!!'

[Not to be the great bringer of sorrow, Firsa herself must still take a fear test.]

"Firsa has jaded, does that get her out of the fear test?" asks Tristan.

"Alas, the Jaded talent only provides immunity to non warp related creatures and incidences." Yval responds

No fear test necessary

Those able to fire and not be immediately killed by everything trying to murder them fire in unison at the monster. The shurriken bolts fly through the air with their screeching sounds and impale the murderous creature burrowing through its armor. Unfortunately the bright light prevents the vast majority of shots fail to hit in clusters and a large portion straight up miss their mark. Before anything else can be done three Ork "shuttles" come crashing in through the hanger doors knocking aside a couple of Eldar fighters that were docked. Piling out of the shuttles come dozens of Orks all looking eager for a fight. Seeing the new arrivals the monster lets out a roar but otherwise is unfazed by the new wounds. Out of the holes in its flesh more of the buzzing inectoids come out before the wounds close shut.

His orkish majesty, the green scourge of the Vuloir (for lack of any other), DUBSHREDDA wades out from the grots and boyz to stare down the monstrosity. With so many of his boyz at his back there is no shred of fear in his heart or mind. He lifts his powerklaw towards the luminous beast and cries "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!", sending his boyz in droves towards their foe and following soon after.

"'We've done our jobs here friends! Fall back and let the orkz handle this, I don't want to see any more dead eldar. Stay safe and out of the crossfire!'

Firsa turns to her honor guard with a somber expression. 'I sincerely hope that the orkz can take care of this monster, but if they can't, I have an idea. According to the necrons who delivered the 'dead' beast to us, the vuloir took it out with some kind of black crystal. I want a party of three to search the path the monster took to get here form the cold room, collect any black crystals you can kind, and bring them back here as soon as you can. Now go! Remember, the fate of our mission may depend on this!'"

The Eldar cease their fire and you see the swarms of insectoids stop chasing the eldar and instead burrow straight into the swarms of Orks beginning to charge forward. Those orks hit begin to quickly falter and melt into the floor. Two Eldar run off the way the monster originally came while the others group up around Firsa's position. As the monster meets the charging orks head on green limbs fly through the air but a number of them begin to clobber at the silicate. As the orks continue their beating more insectoids begin to emerge and more rapidly do the orks around it begin liquidating.

As the fight goes on a little longer you manage to see the figure atop the creature leap off the silicate into the crowd of orks. The orks nearest this golden figure burst into flame and you see in one of its hands is what appears to be a liquid golden spear. From its tip spews out golden fire. You hear the figure shout in a booming and feminine voice. Unfortunately neither of you understand the language though you swear it sounds like one Aten speaks to his Necrons

As the drama continues, Lae'orenar sidles over to Desilco. "So, Captain of Men, did Aten end up meeting his metal maker?"

"No, he has not been killed. Good thing loss of limbs is only a minor setback for the Necrons."

"'You can talk???' Firsa calls out from behind her cover in low gothic? 'I love things that talk! This is probably a very big misunderstanding. Wait a moment while I find us someone who can speak necron dear!.'

Firsa voxes a command for the nearest three necrons to come to her position in the hangar immediately."

You suddenly remember that the vast majority of Necrons cannot speak. Largely because most of them equate to lobotomized people

"Riiiiight, I'll keep that in mind for if I ever actually meet a necron" replies Tristan. "Maybe there's a first officer or something on the necron ship who can talk."

"Firsa contacts the necron ship. 'This is Tanurom, we have an emergency. The beast Aten brought aboard for examination has broken loose and is currently tearing through ranks of orkz. I think it may speak necron. Please send necron warriors to aide the defense and have a translator on standby via vox immediately.'"

You get no verbal response from the Necron vessel. The glowing figure is continuing to slaughter more of the Orks and the beast following it smacks away any that get too close to it. Still the glowing figure shouts out words in a language you do not understand.

"'Well, this is troublesome...' Firsa now tries her luck with the human leaders aboard Tanurom over vox. It would be to Borges' advantage to send humans who could speak the language of their allies after all.

'As I'm sure you're both aware by now, we have a bit of a situation on our hands. I don't suppose either of you speak necron? Or, if you can communicate psionically without language, that would be lovely as well.'

Firsa then curses under her breath as she wonders if her honor guard will be back with any black crystals before her whole hangar is in ruins."

None of the humans speak Necron, the honor guard return with no black crystals unfortunately. Still the glowing figure burns the Orks to cinders.
