Patch notes comments
Time for my commentary on this weeks patch notes, and will be a thread for such notes in the future.
LoL version 1.0.0.124
First, there's a new champion: Talon the Blade's Shadow.
He's like Sivir mixed with Katarina minus tits. I think he's pretty cool, and he has epic CC.
Alistar's Unbreakable will was nerfed. Understandable.
Jax was nerfed to make him more counterable in the laning phase. also understandable.
Kayle got a slight buff. understandable.
Nidalee has lower cooldown and mana cost on Javelin toss, and her Cougar form was buffed, but her heal was nerfed. This is part of riot's efforts to make support champs fight.
Orianna got a slight nerf and some bug fixes.
Sona's healing was nerfed, plain and simple. they didn't even try to compensate for it.
Soraka is now a GOD, because she is no longer a support champion. overnight, soraka turned from support into one of the greatest AP carries the meta has seen in a long while. WHAT THE AMOS.
Taric's main source of heal, Imbue, is practically useless now, but it's okay, because he can beat up people with increased attack speed. from .613 to .625.
Udyr's turtle stance was nerfed.
Xin'Zhao has slighhhtly less CC ability.
Aesthetically, I personally think the UI changes are awesome, but that's a matter of opinion and taste.

Talon, the Blade's Shadow
Noxian Diplomacy: Talon viciously stabs his enemy, dealing heavy physical damage and causing them to leave a blood trail that Talon can use to track them.
Rake: Talon fans out three blades in front of him that quickly return to him, dealing damage and slowing any target hit in either direction.
Cutthroat: Talon leaps behind his target and silences them for a short duration, amplifying the damage of any of his follow up attacks and abilities.
Shadow Assault (Ultimate): Talon enters stealth for a short duration, gaining a movement speed boost and sending blades that deal damage to all enemies in their path flying in every direction. Once the blades reach a certain distance, they pause and form a circle. When Talon reappears from stealth, the blades return to him, once again dealing damage to any opponent they pass through.

UI Improvements
New scoreboard with new art!
Removed upper left redundant champion info
Floating text is now prioritized to show important events such as being stunned or silenced much more quickly
Kills are now displayed as "Kill Callouts" along the right hand side of the screen and show assists
Added a new ping functionality: You can now ping to signal your teammates to fall back
You are now able to mute players from the scoreboard
Improved prioritization for selection of units around towers
Made improvements to loadtimes and frame rates for Summoner's Rift, Twisted Treeline, and Tutorials
Toggle spells no longer cancel channeling when turned off
Made improvements to camera panning to make it smoother
Made improvements to how Fog of War interacts with the environment to enhance the visual display (does not affect the gameplay aspect of Fog of War)
Fixed a bug where Champions could be pulled across the map while teleporting
Fixed several issues where character animations would sometimes freeze

I mean ok, he needs nerfs, but he needs abit more than this (sorry Kai-Wario), just a bit. I was thinking take maybe 5 more damage off from leap strike early, 30 late and tweak the scaling to .9.

This is a HUGE buff to hybrid kayle and kayle in general. her passive is hybrid passive (though the previous one was SO much better) and a 1.0 scaling on bonus AD with her 1.0 scaling on bonus AP is really good. ALSO its 5% more dmg amp at rank 5 which is a lot. Go play hybrid kayle, its worthwhile.

NIDALEE HAS BEEN WRECKED, and I am happy about it.
Those of you who say "BUT ARG, SHE GOT JAVELIN BUFF" javelin GAY-MOS sucks as a move. It has great range, and great damage at the end of its range, but its a really SLOW skillshot and if you are on your toes its not going to hit you (or its pointblank and it hits for like nothing).
Pounce got pwned, the cd increase is big, the same way the cd decrease on sorakas starcall is big (cd changes on low cd moves makes a world of difference)
Her heal got destroyed, so much, so many ways, Rest In Hell primal surge. (It still buffs offensive capability for you aggressive people though).
Also that her dodge % was changed to armor and mr is awful. As it turns out the thing to do with nidalee was to take nimbleness and dodge runes so that you could run away, or chase really well (besides pounce).
Orianna

The base damage nerf on Dissonance is kinda . . . . not much of a nerf.
Shield nerf, good, her shield scales with mr and armor and her ball provides that, and since Orianna is an AP carry that is way over the top for a shield.

The one support who imo shouldn't have her heals crushed into the grounds (or as Elementz says, got kicked in her gonad-mangina), its what soraka was known for. ON THE OTHER HAND, her infuse and starcall are much more agressive and this off tanky ap half support soraka is a lot more viable, just a new way to play her (and as many have seen, unless you are vayne, tryndamere or yi, a silence hurts like a stun in fights).
As to infuse and starcall themselves, they do BOSS damage now, and yes the mana sustain on herself has been nerfed by 25% (not 50, because of cd reduction on it) but this also promotes her using it just on her teammates and not feeling like "meh I could use the mana more than them) so this means increased mana sustain to your carries with mana like trist, caitlyn, etc, great stuff. Not to mention is a freaking 3 SECOND silence, which is huge. Starcall has become a viable ap dmg support move, reducing 36 mr in 3 ticks makes enemy carries wince and it ends up doing a solid amount of damage too. So to me, soraka has become like your alternative lane support, taric does armor debuffs and heals, soraka does mr debuffs and mana (they both have armor buffs, but in different forms).

This is a good heal nerf, it compensates by making taric slightly more aggressive in fights (a lot of non right click champs just forget they have an autoattack) instead of just chucking dazzle. Also this just ties in with the rest of the heal nerfs, people have to start going back to fighting on their own strength. (I like this).

His sustain was nerfed into the ground, and the item fix is not the greatest thing for him, may have been a bug but that is damn useful to have slow on top of red buff for the man with awful closing.

Riven, the Exile
Broken Wings: Riven steps forward and lashes out in a series of powerful sword slashes. This ability can be activated up to 3 times in a short period.
1st Use/2nd Use: Deals damage to a small area in front of her
3rd Use: Jumps into the air and slams downward, causing a larger impact nova that deals damage and knocks nearby enemies back.
Ki Burst: Riven damages and stuns nearby enemies.
Valor: Riven dashes forward and gains a shield for a short duration.
Blade of the Exile (Ultimate): Riven's sword reforms, giving her a percentage multiplier on her total attack damage, extended range on her damaging abilities and basic attacks and the ability to use Wind Slash once.
Wind Slash: While Blade of the Exile is active, Riven can reactivate the ability to emit a large shockwave that deals damage to all units hit based on their missing life.
Runic Blade (Passive): Riven's abilities charge her blade, causing her to do bonus damage on her next autoattack. Riven can store up to 3 charges, but only expends one at a time.
My take: She's okay I guess. seems very similar to Lee Singa and will probably be at least mediocre and playable.

My take: doesn't have HUGE eff because there are very few spell shields

My take: the increased AD ratio .-. Garen is increasingly like Jaws. Just when you thought it was safe to go in the bushes......

My take: Remember that Mordekaiser that kept getting pentas left and right and had the combined QQ of the entire forums? He doesn't exist anymore. NERFED INTO THE GROUNDDDDDDDDDDD.
Nidalee
Pounce cooldown reduced to 3.5 seconds from 4 seconds
Aspect of the Cougar armor and magic resistance increased to 10/20/30 from 10/15/20
My take: OH COME ON. the last thing we need is Nidalee buffing. HotShotGG just creamed himself again.
Nocturne
Unspeakable Horror leash range reduced to 525 from 550
My take: slight nerf, k with this.

Jack-in-the-Box
Boxes are now immune to damage while stealthed if the source cannot see them
Jack in the Box trigger radius reduced to 325 from 400 to mitigate cases where it fears targets and they run out of range, rendering the Box unable to attack
Fixed a bug where Jack in the Boxes could be seen by stealthed enemies
Fixed a bug where Jack in the Boxes could be seen in brush or through fog of war while not stealthed if an enemy was nearby
Fixed a bug where Jack in the Boxes would sometimes stop attacking targets if they both were in brush
Fixed a bug where Jack in the Boxes could activate but fail to fear targets moving near the edge of its range
Fixed a bug where turrets would always attack Jack in the Boxes first
Improved Jack in the Box AI
Boxes will hard lock onto the closest champion that has damaged Shaco recently, or that Shaco has damaged
Boxes will soft lock onto other non-neutral-monsters they attack (they will prefer to keep attacking that target)
We plan more Box AI improvements in the future!
My take: bug fixes always good. I really think that for the first time in forever Shaco will be very viable in high-level play because he doesn't have NEARLY as many exploitable bugs. Expect to see a huge spike in Shaco play.

Radiance (Remake)
Taric slams the ground dealing 150/250/350 (+0.6 ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies. For the next 10 seconds, Taric gains 30/50/70 Attack Damage and Ability Power and grants nearby allies half the bonuses. 100/90/80 second cooldown.
My take: DAYUMMMMMMMMMMMM. Completely new nuke ult, consequences shall never be the same. I look forward to seeing this guy in action.

My take: Opinions are mixed on Vlad, but I think this is a pretty nice looking if small buff.
General
My take: Moonflair Spellblade, Cloak and Dagger, and Eleisa's Miracle now give 35 tenacity, up from 25
now there are alternative's to merc's treads? what?
You can now use multiple Health or Mana Potions while you have one active which will queue them up to be used after the previous completes (maximum 5 stacks)
My take: When I was first starting out it took me forEVER to realize that my pots weren't stacking, and I wasted a crapton. This is actually pretty awesome.
You can now Smart Cast items (you have to manually bind the hotkeys)
My take: OMGFUCKYEAH. CONSEQUENCES WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.
Clones now correctly show their own stats
Clones that are meant to deceive now have a hero minimap icon
My take: A cool buff for people like Shaco that will be able to trick people more easily. Again, contribootin' to his buffing.
Creep camp minimap icons are now more consistent; clairvoyance and wards will now properly update the map icons
Lux, Malphite, Maokai, Kog'Maw, Gragas and Xin Zhao's tooltips properly display numbers in their passives as they update.
Consumable items will not be removed from recommended item lists after being purchased
Removed the word “sleeps” from Cleanse’s tooltip

Traps (Teemo, Caitlyn, Nidalee) will now show the area they trigger in when cast

The 'sleep' is muscle memory from the original DotA where they used the Dreadlord ability Sleep which was basically a stun.

its not really worth talking about this patch:
Morde goes down but not into oblivion - I've still seen him do OK and good, just not as EASILY as he used to.
Taric got some kinda irrelevant buffs (since you are more than likely playing him support). Still buffs though, oh yeah and the ult got upgraded to doing damage over continuous healing.
Nidalee getting cdr reduced on pounce is ok, for her every .5 seconds counts (think in terms of a 12 second or 15 second frame).
Brand got a "nerf"
Orianna had her control in lane nerfed.
Shen got a fairly powerofpoo "buff" - as oprah said "is he viable?".
Riven is OK - I think Q, W and R are pretty much fine. The two nitpicks are:
E should get a longer dash range so it can go through small walls. (like renekton). Then the windslice portion of her ultimate needs to go faster, the range is really good but can like run out of it.
