CHOCOLATE DESTINY

Amos manages to ignore the ghastly leers of the creatures and counts a total of 44.
The Spectacular Coterie returns to their liege with several bundles of torches and a keg of gunpowder.

She quickly deactivates her sword at the sight of the gunpowder. "That might be overkill, we could destroy the gate with that."

She turns to Lil Prince Ali. "Tell me how far can you and your manservants throw me carrying that barrel?"

Ali notices that Skuld is acting weird, and that she is eyeing the perfect spot "to get behind Amos and spartan kick him". Ali grabs a lit torch and moves closer to her, keeping her on the side of the ramparts closer to the creatures. He stops only a few inches from her face, and looks her in the eye, his sword arm relaxed at his side.

"Before dat, you been actin' strange for some time, Skuldigger. I dunno if you on mood swings or wut, but you best get any grudges off yo' chest before we move on," says Ali, smiling widely with eyebrows raised. "Cause when I get da ball rollin' it don't stop for nothin', ya hear me?"

Ali signals to a Coterie member to bring the powder keg. He then holds the burning torch above the powder keg. Its flame flickers dangerously close to its wooden surface.

"Fuck the gate, it gon' break anyway. You got somethin' to say, say it quick, before I drop da bass."

She merely smiles, the sword in her hand glowing again. "Now now prince, should you really be threatening a woman who is holding a sword in her hand that can cut through you and your men with but one swing?" She says all this, not taking her eyes off Ali and his men. "And as for grudges...unless you suddenly have power in Abatos, I have no problems with you. Now could you please answer my question?"

"Well then-" Ali whispers, treating her sassy response as acquiescence, "-leggo". He immediately sucks in a huge breath and his chest expands like a bullfrog's.

In a movement fast enough to put the Dune Vipers of his homeland to shame, Ali lights the barrel and kicks it out of his servant's hands, sending it flying towards the mob of monsters below. The barrel flips once, twice, and thrice in the air, catching the morning sun's red gleam on its powdered body as it begins to dip downwards.

The air in Ali's chest explodes outwards, forcing air through his powerful throat.

"TURN DOWN FOR WHAT," echoes the guttural chant, which ripples forth with a shockwave that's almost VISIBLE in its audacity. From the moment it leaves Ali's mouth, the primal war cry raises the hackles of every living creature in its path. Those standing nearest feel their clothing strain against them, as if trying to escape from a ferocious predator. All feel a ringing in their ears, and an unnatural sensation within their buttocks. Guards shiver in their armor, and Ali's Coterie bathes in the grandeur of their future KING.

Skuld tries to make a break for it when he lights the barrel, just in case the explosion is big enough to destroy the walkway above the gate.

The fizzing powder keg receives the force the Lil' Prince's rousing call, a primal urge spreading to fill every grain of its being.
"Wha-what did you just-"
This would be its finest hour, the moment its been waiting for its whole (shelf) life. This was its....gunpowder destiny.
"Duck!"
EXPLOSION
The keg bursts in midair inches above the monsters' heads, spraying forth a fountain of copper sparks. Many are ripped apart, gray body parts flying. A loud, wooden cracking sound also issues. Atop the wall, some of the archers are scratched by flying debris. Reaching ground level Skuld witnesses the last remnants of the shattered gate doors fall to pieces on the unluckiest watchmen, revealing the thick black cloud of sooty smoke obscuring the opening.

After miraculously surviving the explosion and flying debris Amos hops down from the wall to charge at vulnerable fiends.

"Friends! I have returned! What have I missed in my unexpected absence?"

Seeing that they didnt blow themselves up skuld charges at the remaining monsters.

Ali waves away the rising smoke and pats Lucas on the back, laughing like a hyena.

"Yo we went hard as fuck last night, nigga. Man you shoulda seen yoself: drink afta drink with 2 bitches on yo' lap. You was so hung ovah dis mornin' I had to drag yo sorry ass up onto dis fuckin' wall."

Ali gestures at the shattered gate and monster corpses.

"Oh, and dem weirdlins tryna move on our turf, so I blew em up."

Amos' body is jarred from the almost 30 foot drop, but manages to recover soon enough to dodge a claw swipe. One monster engages him.
As Skuld passes through the opening some of the smoke enters her lungs, giving her a brief coughing fit. Two monsters lunge at her.

Gripping her sword with two hands she makes a wide slash at the two monsters, aiming for their upper bodies.

Amos dodges backwards glances to his sides quickly to confirm there are no other oncoming foes. He draws his sharpened steel and keeps his sword in longpoint. When the monster swings with a claw Amos dives in and tries to sever the grey creature's hand.

Skuld's weapon goes through the monsters like a hot...sword through flesh. Little clicking sounds are made as tiny cracks form in the severed bones.
Four halves fall to the ground, where the top halves continue to writhe and thrash limbs somewhat less ineffectually.

Unfortunately for Amos, his sideways glances reveal two oncoming foes on the left. But instead of swinging a claw, his original attacker lunges headfirst and is swiftly decapitated. The gnashing head falls to his right while the main body collapses, revealing yet another creature behind it hopping towards him on one leg.

With his professional expertise, Lucas now determines that these creatures are indeed undead, though not vampires.

Seeing her fallen foes, she calmly walks over to them and stomps their heads until she sees their skulls are caved in.

After tap-dancing her foes to death she calmly walks toward more of the monsters.

Lucas draws his 3 barreled pistol and barrages the beast with bullets, aiming for vital points.  Lucas reloads whenever possible, firing again, etc.

Amos bounds back towards the wall and tries to shift around so that he is not attacked on two sides by the oncoming foes. He roars out in guttural tongue of violence and prepares to fight them.

Lucas fires shot after shot with frightening precision, flawlessly hitting each beast right in the liver and both kidneys. Despite being hit in their weakest points, most of them seem unaffected.

The smoke has cleared enough to see through, revealing that half of the original number remain standing. The two rushing Amos suddenly stop short of his range. All of the monsters look around with uncertainty for a couple of seconds, after which they let out a long rasp and rush together through the gateway and past Skuld while she finishes stomping the heads.

Lucas holsters his pistol. "Curses! Only dismemberment has any effect upon them. However, I may have an answer to their undeath!"

Lucas presents Hautbrene and says it's activating words under his breath.

She stands in the way of the monsters, thrusting her glowing, hot sword at the closest monsters face."

He stands among the bodies and destruction outside the wall and tries to examine the creatures for any similarities to the meat blobs of yesterday's adventure.

Hautbrenne activates some words, looking a bit brighter than usual and ready to burn. Amos watches the corpses for some time, but they do not change in appearance, and do not resemble the meat blobs seen earlier. Their skin is gray, and is pock-marked with open wounds and missing chunks outlined with dried blood. The ones that have clothes on are clad in shantytown rags.

Skuld strikes at a passing monster.

Charging, sprinting, loping at great speed, the monster lunged at Skuld, but she already had that fiend dead to rights. Her blade pokes clean out the back of its head, and she pulls it out to lop the scalp off.

She turns her attention to the next monsters, acting as a wall against the monsters so they won't reach the town, slashing horizontally at their upper torsos.

Amos rushes back towards the gates cutting away at monsters that turn their attention towards him. He gets behind the gates and tries to draw Lucas' notice.

"Wampire hunter guy! Whatever these monsters are now, they used to be the refugees from the slums. Worse, whether magic or plague this could be a contagion."

Despite all the snide jokes on her weight and girth men have cracked over the years, in actual fact Skuld is incapable of spanning the entire gateway with her body. She spins and slashes, cutting down creatures left and right, but inevitably some slip through.
"Dammit! Abandon posts, hunt them down!" the watch commander yells.
The town guards descend from the walls to pursue the undead through Enarou's panicked streets.

She growls at the sight of the things slipping past her, she charges at a group of the charging monsters, going into a baseballslide a few feet away from the group to get to the center of the, then finally rising into a spin slash to cut down the ones in the center then focusing on killing the ones around her with sweeping horizontal strikes.

Skuld dazzles the field with her fancy combat moves, getting minor rope burn on one leg and dizzyness, with only one kill to show for it, as upon entering the town the ghouls all ran in separate directions.

She returns to the city and goes hunting for the monsters alone, putting her sword away to let it rest.

Lucas chases after the ghouls. He uses Hautbrene's burning rays whenever he encounters one to stun it then behead it with his cutlass while it writhes.

Lil' Prince Ali and Coterie descend the walls, watching the flailing monsters pass by. His sword drawn to defend himself, Ali watches the gate to determine which direction the monsters are coming from, and for any human survivors that might be streaming in.

Lil' Prince Ali finds out the ghouls have been streaming in from the western shantytown. He sees a figure outside running towards the gate, that looks human enough.

Skuld is halted at an intersection by a long train of wagons carrying townsfolk through the intersecting street. While she attempts to find another way, a young couple runs into her.
"Help! He needs a doctor!" the young woman pleads. The man with her has a bloody shoulder.

Lucas finds a ghoul gorging itself on an unrecognizable victim in a side alley. It notices him and rushes to attack. Hautbrenne begins to sear its flesh but the ghoul ignores it and keeps coming. Lucas takes his best swing-

And slashes wide across the creature's torso, sending it stumbling back. Lucas manages to finish it off with laborious effort. He may not be so lucky in the next fight.

Meanwhile, the figure comes close enough to the gate for Ali to make out his features. The man has a floppy mohawk hairstyle, a beige suit, and the determined face of Lee Gray.

Not finding any monsters where she is she stops for a moment to rest, the fatigue from fighting earlier catching up to her. She stands in the middle of the road her hands placed against her knees as she pants heavily . "Shit they were right, settling down makes it hard to do this again." When she sees the couple she shakes her head. "I'm a fighter not a doctor."

Lucas switches to his crossbow, aiming for the eyes of the ghouls.  He continues hunting, while keeping an eye out for wounded victims to treat with his medicine kit.

Ali waves at the approaching figure. However, he cannot shake the feeling that something is off.

"YO, soppy-ass! Over here!"

As Lee Gray approaches, hair flopping side to side, Ali finally identifies the source of his bewilderment.

"Wait a second...you got a muthafuckin' MOHAWK now."

Ali bursts out laughing, as the sounds of slaughter and destruction surround him. He beckons for Lee to come closer and display his magnificent mane.

While his peers are determined to hunt down each individual monster Amos doubts that the source of these creatures has finished sending harm his way. He scans the "battlefield" again and senses something stranger than just a monster attack is transpiring. The refugees-turned-fiends ignore armed guards to their own mortal detriment and they number far less than refugee population.

("If all these monsters are compelled to run into Enarou I'd expect a lot more than 44 of them to be here.")

Amos slips off to questions a guard:
"Hey you taking a rest over there! Yeah ... You! What hour of the morning did all this start?"

"'Twas an hour before dawn when the first of them came, croaking and clawing at the gate. Although the night watchmen say they heard an unusually large amount of screaming in the shanty during their shift."

"No shit sir. Were these 40-some fiends the only ones to beset the gate?"

Gray dodges way through the path that is least occupied towards the town gate, breathing a sigh.

She continues her search through the city. After a while she lets her guard down and relaxes, confident there are no monsters in the area. "Tch, cowardly creatures."

Standing before Prince Ali, and completely out of breath, Lee Gray smooths his mohawk to one side while laughing sheepishly.
"I'm sorry, I ran into a little bit of trouble last night walking down the streets, and everyone that I met... was an interesting person with a pretty original point of view. I could say that, hey, it wasn't a very wonderful kind of day."



"Anyways, I think we must grab one of these fellow's corpses and examine their true nature, to see their traits and weaknesses."

"Oh, vury good nigga!" says Ali, pounding Lee on the shoulders. "Dat's a solid idea you got dere, Lee Graybeard. But if ya want it to work.." Ali takes Lee's head and holds it against his chest. "You got ta listen to mah heart, listen to da beat, listen to da RHYTHM, MON."

"Now," says Ali, releasing Lee's head from his grasp, "let's get togedah and make 'tings bettah, by workin' togedah!"

Ali and Coterie prepare to catch their prey. [Observe for nearest monster].

The man collapses to the ground, eliciting a shout from the young woman as Skuld leaves. She arrives at the town hall and sees wanted posters with descriptions written up for the four of them, all wanted for the murder of Sir Tanvor and Baron Kurloz.

Lucas meets another grooseghoul and puts an bolt through its head without fail. He sees another one run inside an inn building.

"Well, there were a couple more but we shot them down," the watchman answers Amos' question.

Lil' Prince Ali and his homeboy Gray spot a ghoul crawling towards them on both arms, its legs blown off in the explosion. Gray notices its face has a strange resemblance to the woman he saw murdered last night, but with sunken yellow eyes and black talons sprouting from the hands. Entrails and congealed blood trail out behind it.
