The world of this campaign
So what is the world of this campaign going to be like, how much of the general topography do we get to know? Like do we get to know the general shape of the continents, the name of the countries around, or just the general areas from where we have been. Also in general are there lots of countries at war? Is it a time of economic prosperity? Are the undead thriving too much, is there an epidemic going around? Those kinds of things. Also the general climate of the continent, it does matter for a few spells and weather effects.

It's going to mostly dark I guess, that way I can stick in a lot of rape, pillaging, and innuendo
Re: The world of this campaign
Is the whole point of this campaign going to be the comedic effect for you?

Re: The world of this campaign
Um wow dude, if you think dark and evil is funny then you're the Joker.

innuendo is comedy usually, last I checked.

I can already kinda get the hint of sadism coming from this campaign.

Im most likely going to be a lone wolf and may have to steal supplies from a party. Also look at this section.

Well hold your horses, Amos. Kaede's backstory and class fit for the role of Scout, so having her Lone Wolf for a bit isn't such a Bad idea.

Re: The world of this campaign
Ok, there's going to be like 4 or 5 larger countries and 10 smaller ones. I'm going to put the focus on the main continent, which is split kinda like north and south america.
Re: The world of this campaign
lol thosd be two continents but ok, also since the continents aren't necessarily placed earth continents. Is south get warmer as you go down from the mid line or colder as you go down in this world.

Re: The world of this campaign
umm...the world is round right? if you go too far north or south it'll get colder. hmm, maybe I should go read ess textbook so I can make up a unique hadley cell wind system and climate distribution that is as realistic as possible. Ok, so there will be a large desert so I can stir up the awe-inspiring Coriolis Storms(I hope pathfinder has a damage formula for that) meaning its closer to its star than earth is. Shorter orbital period = shorter year, say about 300 days in a year and 10 months of 30 days each. 26 hour day, which makes things hard on humans and easier on elvenkind.
Re: The world of this campaign
but for instance the main part of the continent could be over a pole or whatever, so going south to bottom edge of landmass would be warmer where on earth going to the tip of south america is cold.

Re: The world of this campaign
Oh I see what you mean I was going to have this continent stretch from pole to pole but now that I think about it doesn't sound that logical.
Re: The world of this campaign
Also what are the major military/political/economic forces?

Re: The world of this campaign
If it's all one massive desert then it's a Dune ripoff, humans are highly adaptable, and would have evolved to deal with the 26 hour day unless they came in the last 10000 or so years, in which case there would have to be a serious dark age to bring us down to the current tech level.

Nothing but we'd need to spam water, and everything that we kill I'm harvesting. The technology level would be interesting. Humans would likely have come in interstellar ships so it would be fun to see the BS that Wayne comes up with.

Re: The world of this campaign
There are custom rules for dune campaigns and for the creatures in them, you would have to use the adaptation guide on the entire dnd 3.5 sandstorm book

so it could work, I still think it would be fun when I start grilled Wayne on how humans got there and not adapted to the length of the day.

Re: The world of this campaign
Uhm aside from basic evolution of behavioral traits, just because elves like don't sleep doesn't make the environment favorable to them. The intelligent arcane elves don't really occur in the dunes world, instead you have the painted elves which get bonus strength and less intelligence. so +2 to one stat. Because nature is not very providing in this place and the creatures are very barbaric.

No, he said that the 26 hour day would make life more difficult for humans than elves

Re: The world of this campaign
But the general factors that exist in that ecosystem would be more favorable to humans, elves lose some constitution, which is REALLY bad for rolls against dehydration, desiccation and other desert phenomena.

Hey, have you ever heard about the Butlerian Jihad? Why do you think everyone in dune fights with knives and poison?
They don't have washing machines, no computers (mentats), no television, none of that powerofpoo because it was outlawed.
Now please stfu I said there was going to be a desert, not a planetwide desert retard, you'll only need to adopt fremen tactics when you're there.
Larry, you know the reason why the Earth spins, right? because a meteor hit it a long time ago. So over a long period of time the rotation slowed down, and humans have not adapted as well as elves had. But the important thing is, THIS IS NOT DUNE. THERE ARE OCEANS. trollkastel...

Even if there are legends we do not necessarily know them, I started this topic asking more for general info we get to start out knowing, like if there is other landmasses, the names of any large kingdoms and the like.

There's such as thing as Ranks in Knowledge skills. I have ranks in Geography and Nature, so at least come up with some stuff for me to know in the beginning, as well as stuff I could learn via Knowledge checks.

@ Wayne, plus the whole MY NEGATIVE INTELLIGENCE MODIFIER, I'M A DUMBASS... OMG
I DID NOT MEAN THAT LITERALLY
also, the desert may be so huge, that we won't get out of it

Re: The world of this campaign
Not really, but say it that big instead of defining its ends and such it could be like this:
"The Ashuran desert stretches endlessly in all direction, only through favor of the gods can one escape this hell on [planet name]." and yes the do know about planets they got their magical astronomers.
