A guide to the Lists Empty A guide to the Lists

Post by Corenat Rovarnus 2010-07-10, 00:00

This whole "rating by obscureness/popularity" thing has been defunct for several years now and quite frankly it was always somewhat confusing so I'm ditching the rating system for now. Also, my tastes have changed. Thus the A, B, C, U, Y, Z, etc. lists should be ignored until a full revamp of this format has been undertaken.

Oh, and the Meme list has been rendered obsolete by the presence of Knowyourmeme.com.

The lists that are currently up to "standard":

  • the music track lists by @Zhu Yang (REMIXES, MASHUPS, AND COVERS)
  • the SF List (sort of)

These are lists of the best and worst of pretty much anything, it started out as tiers for Japanese anime but I'm opening it up to Western animation, novels, movies, and whatever other medium you want.

The Alphabetical Lists are a system of categorizing for all animes, mangas, visual novels, and just novels known to man. Here I will take suggestions for new lists.

The A list - Good series that are underrated or very obscure.
The B list - Good series that are acclaimed for the works of art that they are. The justification for these works not being the top tier is that being mainstream means being in a lower tier because it doesn't need more fans, but A listers do.
The C List - Average. These aren't particularly good but don't suck either. Pick these up if you are really bored or you go through hundreds of manga in short periods of time.

Denotation Guide:
The letters enclosed in angle brackets <> denote existing media forms.
a - there is an anime, raw or english subbed.
eda - english dub anime
flm - full length movie
lam - Live Action Movie
ln - Light Novel
mo - Manga Only
sm - Spinoff Manga
vg - Video Game (spinoff or otherwise)
vn - Visual Novel

Should we make lists for video games as well or is it anime and manga only?

Quite true, I'm going to expand this and move it into the general section.
