Fate/Apocrypha
It's airing now!
Totally caught me off guard as I thought an adaptation was far into the future.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
I really want to like this series, I love the concept, but there's just so many things that seem off.
- The Moedred/Sisigou dynamic
- Fran-chan
- Astolfo, the light of the party.
- Kotomine Shirou. Yeah nothin' weird nothin' strange goin' on here, we just wanna rejoice with ya
- U Vlad bro?
The bad: - Jack the Stripper
- All the Red Masters besides Shirou and Sisigou are faceless schmucks who haven't even shown up yet, and Sisigou works alone. So much for teamwork.
- Chiron's not a centaur. Yes I know he's apparently taken human form to hide his identity but surely he doesn't need to do that in team Black's home base?
- Jeanne boom is a demi-servant? NANI?
- Jack the Stripper
The ugly: - Spartacus. Sorry, he's just not enough of a big guy for me.
- Avicebron. He must be, wearing that mask and all.
The good:
Re: Fate/Apocrypha
Fran makes me miss my old FGO account. Also yeah Jeanne is the original demi-servant, even referenced in FGO through a CE
Also From what I remember, the other red masters don't matter they are seen in the manga though, or at least one is.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
I'm mildly rustled from too much plot focus on the escaped homunculus, he gets the lives of two Servants just handed to him. I'll start caring about the guy when he does something all by himself.
Gordes is retarded, but I think that was deliberate.
Also, I realized Jeanne's civilian outfit is basically the blouse version of that meme sweater. You know, the virgin killer thing.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
I'm personally waiting abit for more episodes to come out before watching, but from what I remember of the little bit of the novels I read, that homunculus is the main character of Apocrypha so it makes sense he gets lots of attention.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
I feel like it's a piece of crap at the moment.
character development seems forced and rushed, making me not feel any investment for any of the characters.
That wouldn't be that big of an issue if the anime didn't seem to be spending all its time trying to develop its characters, but that's really all I've been seeing the anime try to do at the moment. Thus I feel like I'm just watching really shitty character development that culminates to scenes that the show wants me to care about, but I don't end up caring, thus the build up for the moment of intended catharsis is ruined.
The animation is pretty gud and I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the story may be decent (though I really don't know much about it right now), but without characters that I care about, the animation quality and story doesn't seem to matter.
TLDR; the story focuses almost entirely on shittily done character development, so I'm not feelin' it Mr. Krabs.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
Something I think this show will have against it, too many characters will hurt it's characters development a bit. Unlike Fate/Zero where there is about 14-16 characters and they all got the spotlight and had room to grow, though admittedly some got more development than others. This series has at least a minimum of 25 characters (going off of one side has full masters and servants ,14, while the other has 7 servants and 2 masters, plus Jeanne so I could be wrong) so characterization might suffer as a result of too many characters on screen at once.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
Yes, I agree.
Unfortunately the show doesn't do anything besides very shallow, but more than basic, character development so far, so I'm not a fan.
If it just went for super basic character development and added on later without trying to build big emotional moments with the underdeveloped characters, I feel that I might enjoy it more.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
It's because they focus on the characters I don't like and shafting the ones I do. Fate/Zero's cast was like 99% cool IMO so it would have been good regardless of who the limelight was on. In essence, anyone could have been the main character (except maybe kayneth fried circuits).
Apocrypha is more like 40-50%, and they put the spotlight on the idiot Gordes and stoic SUMANAI, and only like 1 scene for Fran-chan and Moedred/Sisigou. Probably the only one who gets the attention they deserve is Astolfo.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
well, maybe you would like them or at least be able to relate to them somewhat if they did an actual good job of developing those characters.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
I feel like I'm missing something, UTW hasn't released episode 6 yet. Has someone else finally picked it up?
Re: Fate/Apocrypha
Alright episode 6 is out, and things are definitely looking up. Mo' Moedred, Mo' Fran, Mo' fighting.
DON'T LEAVE FRAN AT HOME THOUGH YOU GOOFBALL GLASSES GUY!!!
Yeah I'm guessing he's gonna get killed without her.
Gordes gon' get sacrificed, Wheelchair chick is actually Doctor Octopus, Chiron is a pankrator?!?
The only not-good thing about this episode was Jack the Stripper, it was okay I guess.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
I haven't started F/A yet, but got all the current episodes from utw, should I wait for all of them to come out or not.
Also, because I don't wanna start a whole nother topic, has anyone watched kaleid yet? Wanna know if it's good or not.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
Start watching now, I've grown a gradual distaste for this series so you might feel like dropping halfway through, in which case you won't have to bother waiting for the rest.
You're gonna have to be more specific than "kaleid", do you mean any of the animu series or that oath of snow movie?

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
Both really, if I remember correctly the movie leads into the third season. Though I also heard there is a manga as well that covers the movie and beyond. Read a little bit of the further chapters where I've seen things like
- Spoiler:
- Sakura having zerkalot's card and her getting a flower shaped hole in her chest by courtesy of a Shinji with tentacle rope arms from assassin

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
uh yeah the animu is an adaptation of the mango. I haven't seen the movie but I've seen the first season and half of the second(2wei!). It's alright if you can stomach all the loli/yuri fanservice.
I didn't even know sakura was in this spinoff, I guess she doesn't show up until 3rei.

Re: Fate/Apocrypha
Episode 22 had a dramatic shift in style, which I'm conflicted about.
At first glance it looks like they ran out of budget because a lot of scenes lack proper gradients/shading and look like they're made of color scribbles. Apparently according to some folks on MAL this episode actually had the highest production budget, bringing in a huge line of freelance animators.
This was definitely the most action packed episode, and while some of it looks like colored lineart, the lineart is really dynamic and not something I've seen a lot of in this show so far.
