Chocolate Destiny World Dossier
Introducing the first ever source of actual objective* background knowledge, here's a look into the various nations and peoples in the wild and wonderful world of Chocolate Destiny! This masterpost will be updated as I flesh out the less developed countries.
*If you believe anything I say is objective
Throughout its millennia of history Fei has embarked on three separate large scale campaigns of conquest, each one proving wildly successful in accumulating both territory and infamy to its name. In some countries Feiren agents are feared and reviled even more than Abatosians. Nonetheless the people of Fei share an unshakeable pride in their state and culture down to the lowliest slave.
Fei is the largest country in the known world in terms of land, if not population. Their heartland alone occupies the majority of the southern continent, with tributary provinces and suzerainties taking up the remainder. At the top of their government sits the Iridescent Emperor, whose word is law. Immediately under him/her is the Council of Ministers, each of whom is tasked with carrying out the Emperor's will within their myriad fields of expertise. The Emperor's court is held in the Fortress City, Eternal Emblem. Appointed noble Viceroys administrate the various far flung regions under Fei control.
The Imperial Army is extremely diverse, containing the complete range from pikemen to crossbows to heavy cavalry as well as specialist contingents like mounted archers and the elite shock troopers known as the Grandmasters, to whom killing is an art. Fei legend is filled with many instances of lone Grandmasters decimating legions, as well as the duels between the more famous members of the order.
The principal suzerainties of Fei are Haisung, Gentoc, Berglind, Nippon, and Gaitherland. Abatos is ostensibly also a suzerainty of Fei, but their tax rate is nearly nonexistent due to decades of skillful negotiation and promises of exclusive trade contracts.
The Fei economy is based on the ‘teng’, a gold rimmed copper coin with a square hole in its center for easy storage in stacks. As the Empire controls many distant and diverse territories the teng serves more as a general template, with each major region using its own variation. For example Gentoc’s xhoteng is rimmed with silver instead of gold, and Haisung’s gotengs are often carved from bone or wood.
“It’s called that because they think it’s worth ‘teng’ of our coins, get it?” –common joke among foreign traders
Jaquim is the only major nation besides Abatos that sanctions the training and deployment of mages in the state military. Each major fief is assigned a magic-user that has matriculated from the Royal Academy in Domiente.
The Jaquimish are a devout people, and no city, town, or hamlet is complete without at least one church. The priesthood maintains regular internal communication so that the holy canon stays consistent across the distant settlements. The church of Equinince is also responsible for the creation of the Dragonborn, a legion of fanatical berserkers who will fight alongside or in place of the regular army.
Fei sent a massive invasion fleet against Jaquim in their third campaign, but were soundly repelled by the Quinate paladin Saint Seventide. Jaquim is also home to large societies of halflings and goblins. This diversity lends the people slightly more tolerance of foreigners than other lands.
The art of castle building in Jaquim began in earnest when masonic mages were hired to construct fiefdom keeps during the great unification, when the Nayruz dynasty consolidated the various feudal provinces into a single kingdom. They took heavy inspiration from the “trollbooth”, a simple utilitarian dwelling for basic storage and sleeping needs.
The Sienna Riverlands, Erroyo Prairie, and the Schnawkwood area around Enarou are part of southern Jaquim, whose ruling houses fell into disarray a few decades ago. Among the fallen houses are Schnawk, Lopez, Minkolya, Cabot, and Terence. Several prominent nobles were appointed to take charge of these regions by royal decree, including Baron Kurloz, Viscount Rubio Gilberm and Duke Nicholas Flynnfield.
Jaquim’s currency is the gold rook, so named because of the small Quinate symbol stamped on the reverse side that resembles the foot of the titular bird.
The Republic boasts the finest schools of the magical arts in the world, but unfortunately its citizens are much better known for being silver-tongued confidence tricksters and robber barons. Many backward tribes and towns have been short-changed by a seedy guildsman looking to make a quick buck, and teach their children to be suspicious of anything an Abatosian says. Despite this reputation the Republic itself is nearly free of discrimination, they do not care who you are as long as you have money or something to trade.
The capital is the island of Abatoi, a dazzling metropolis at sea protected by the legendary Nine Ringwalls. It is an unforgettable sight that is talked and dreamed about for miles around. By contrast, Abatos’ government is a labyrinthine beast that most outsiders quickly regret asking about. Lacking any sort of king or singular leader figure, it could best be described as a massive bureaucracy. A plethora of councils and committees are involved, whose purposes vary from debating the legal framework of mercantile operations, to making decisions on civil disputes and criminal justice. Most of them are non-exclusive and can overlap, with any one official often holding membership in multiple related committees. Day to day working matters are left to the guilds and corporations.
The Republic Self Defense Force was formed out of bodyguards and escort ships of the major guild shipping fleets. From its beginning the SDF has strived to uphold their image as simple protectors of the people, so that the Empire and other groups the Republic deals with would not feel threatened by their presence. They keep a strict code of honor and discipline, resorting to violence only if citizens or corporate assets are jeopardized.
Most of its citizens trace their ancestry back to the days of the monarchy, Dor’shabat. The precursor to Abatos, Dor’shabat occupied the swampy coastal regions of the southern continent. It was wiped off the map in the Empire’s Second Campaign of conquest several centuries ago. The leaderless survivors fled by boat to an archipelago in the eastern ocean, only to meet resistance from the native orcs and constant predation by the seafolk.
In a desperate attempt to preserve what little they had, a loose coalition of merchants and military officials from the old regime met with the leadership of the islanders. Through careful negotiation and according to some accounts magical manipulation, they managed to convince the natives of their common interest in preventing any more losses to Fei incursions. The first charters were drafted, and thus the Republic was founded.
Abatosian faith consists of a pantheon of gods, each holding domain over certain aspects of the world. In old Dor’Shabat regular sacrifices were made to appease the gods and bring good fortune, but in the Republic’s current era of prosperity worship has declined significantly.
Abatosian currency is the clarin, a light blue disc with a smooth edge and a small circular hole in its center. It is the most highly valued currency in the known world due to the Republic’s globalizing influence, and is nearly impossible to counterfeit. Each coin contains a trace amount of orichalcum and has the date of its minting embossed around the hole.
The Swaggafids are moderately involved in the slave trade, and yet are also quite an artistic people. They have crafted many works of calligraphy, wall murals, and vase paintings. Sailors the world over can be heard singing their sultry chants. It is all dedicated to the Swagger, the sinusoid rhythms of life, and to their rulers, who are the living embodiment of these ideals.
The hardy desertmen are also known as the most prolific practitioners of polygamy on the planet. Reaching 100 “bitches” is a regular milestone for the nobility. One particular Swaggafid legend even tells of a man who had married over 360 wives, one for every day of the year.
The Swaggafids share the vast sandy expanse with several lesser states, including the Opulent Emerald Kingdom, the Sublime Peridot Kingdom, the Kingdom of Strippers, and the Ratchet Realm.
The Sultanate has no official currency, somehow managing to thrive on what appears to be a total barter system. This may be due to the massive amounts of golden statues, jewelry and other such treasures(collectively known as "swag") that everyFremen free desertman seems to possess. Their chief exports are gold, camels, glassware, and of course, spice.
This is the weeb country for weeaboo players. The home of sugoi samurai, sugoi shinobi, committing Sudoku, and kawaii katanas that have been folded over a million times and are just better.
Gaitherland has only two major cities, the first being its capital Gaither’s Burg. Gaither’s Burg is a neat, organized community built in a precise geometric pattern, or at least it was before the invasion. The second is a strange settlement known only as “The Village”. It was built millennia ago, in a ring around the base of Mount Montgomery, the tallest mountain in the world. According to the Village’s dogma, an almighty deity dwells at its summit, controlling every aspect of the world below.
Gaitherland’s military has been thoroughly routed save for a few pockets of resistance, and it is currently occupied by the Imperial Army.
What little is known of these elusive creatures has been gleaned from the few times humans have managed to encounter them and live. This world’s dragons have two arms, two legs, two large wings, and tough yet shiny scales covering their bodies. They fiercely defend their territory, but their domains never seem to expand despite the passing of the centuries.
Most of them belong to one of the four main communities, or Dragonflights.
The Geistrule Dragonflight is the most prominent, dwelling in the Spine of the World. This long mountain range runs down the southern continent dividing the state of Fei and the western deserts, Geistrule’s presence being the principle reason that the two world powers have not yet clashed. Geistrule dragons can white, black, gray, or brown in hue.
The other major Dragonflights are the Derooti in Tuong, the Rheejan in Jaquim, and the Jarlhava in Berglind.
Trolls are perhaps the most highly evolved species on the planet. They are proficient from birth at trolling in every meaning of the word. The other races can’t measure up to their magnificence. They are simply the best there is. Trolls would be ruling the world by now, were not for the fact that they cannot stand each others company. Most trolls keep solitary lifestyles, contacting others of their kind only for reproduction or other dire emergencies. Indeed, some have disavowed mating entirely and become wizards instead.

Nations of the (Known) World
Fei Empire (demonym: Feiren)
The state of Fei would prefer everyone to believe they've been around since the dawn of history. Their long and illustrious records certainly date back much farther than any other nation currently in existence. Their flag is a golden eagle locked in combat with a gray dragon on a field of red.Throughout its millennia of history Fei has embarked on three separate large scale campaigns of conquest, each one proving wildly successful in accumulating both territory and infamy to its name. In some countries Feiren agents are feared and reviled even more than Abatosians. Nonetheless the people of Fei share an unshakeable pride in their state and culture down to the lowliest slave.

Kingdom of Jaquim (demonym: Jaquimish)
The dominant power on the northern continent, which has been relatively untouched by Fei machinations due to the vast expanse of the Serpentine Sea that splits north and south. Jaquim’s principal craft is masonry, made evident by their massive castles and other fortifications that have stood strong against the test of time. Their seat of power is the plains city of Domiente, ruled by a divinely anointed King. Their flag is a long sinuous red dragon curled around a white four pointed star on a black field.Jaquim is the only major nation besides Abatos that sanctions the training and deployment of mages in the state military. Each major fief is assigned a magic-user that has matriculated from the Royal Academy in Domiente.

Abatos Republic (demonym: Abatosian)
Located on a series of large island chains in the easternmost seas, Abatos is a purportedly peaceful nation of traders and sailors. Their flag is a yellow lighthouse emitting rays across a blue field, representing a shining beacon of progress to the rest of the world. Swaggafid Sultanate
The Swaggafid Dynasty is the supreme power of the western desert. It was founded of course by the legendary hero Fittypence who became the first of a long unbroken line of warrior kings. Their banner features a stylized eye watching over a camel and several shaking hips, surrounded by waves and curves. Their capital is a large oasis city next to Striptease village.

Tuong (demonym: Tuonggi)
This peninsular region hosts a collection of disparate towns and settlements. During the Third Campaign they were combined to form a single suzerainty of Fei, from which the name “Tuong” was derived. However, the Imperial Army could not maintain control due to the dense tropical rainforest that covers the entire region, and it slowly broke back down into independent tribes and clans. It is known best for its bizarre assortment of exotic and deadly wildlife, both animal and plant.Berglind (demonym: Berglinder)
A chilly realm near the south pole that has recently become known as a center for technological innovation. “Berglind” is actually a bastardized name given by the Empire due to their difficulties learning the native tongue, but the eldest still keep the true name of the land in their hearts: Noar’hava-grosk, or “Where winter’s heart takes roost.”Nippon (demonym: Nipponese)
This is the weeb country for weeaboo players. The home of sugoi samurai, sugoi shinobi, committing Sudoku, and kawaii katanas that have been folded over a million times and are just better.
Gaitherland (demonym: Gaitherlanders)
A small country to the northwest of Berglind that was recently annexed by Fei. Coming from humble agricultural origins, Gaitherlanders are a scholarly people who value education and the scientific method. Their skin is a tan olive tone despite the country’s close proximity to the south pole. Though the research in Gaitherland would never outshine the work done in the Abatos Republic, generations of fascination with the patterns of life and the cosmos led to the development of a unique and lesser known school of "analytical magic" cast through a combination of rune scribed parchments and meditating scientific mantras.Gaitherland has only two major cities, the first being its capital Gaither’s Burg. Gaither’s Burg is a neat, organized community built in a precise geometric pattern, or at least it was before the invasion. The second is a strange settlement known only as “The Village”. It was built millennia ago, in a ring around the base of Mount Montgomery, the tallest mountain in the world. Ahem, katanas are folded tens of thousands of times. Of course they are better. No refined weeaboo samurai would lose to a brutish white neckbeard in armor.
But awesome job all in all. The pictures help sell it.
