But actually I stopped because my announcements are too trivial and nonsensical to be worth remembering.

That isn't true, I read random crap amos kept sending me links to...and hell no not the english dub of anything on funimation, i watched FMP all subbed and whatnot.

And the FSN anime doesn't count, we both watched it in English Dub and you know it.

grr F/UC w/e at least i had the dignity to go read the VN immediately afterward. o and btw FMP is based off of a LIGHT NOVEL SERIES that is fully translated into english, I was browsing a local bookstore today and found the whole series.

a light novel is a BOOK, a STORY that is printed on REAL PAPER, then bound with a COVER and sold in a real brick and mortar bookstore.

Then why couldn't you just say "Book", I mean whats the difference then if its just a book. Light novel makes it sound like something from Dune.

ALRIGHT I looked up Light Novel and apparently it means Japanese Young Adult Fiction that sometimes has Pictures of Anime girls with skirts and their legs kicked up so that the skirt looses its general functionality.
...And that just confuses me more. Light Novel makes no sense and if they mean to say its a short book from Japan then for gods sake just call it that!

I am an advocate of simple terms that everyone can understand (and it is regulation when using the Incident Command System, the way we handle accidents for those of you who live under a rock and don't know that, you use terms that each organization can understand, no 10-4 jargon, etc) but short book from Japan, is a cumbersome term compared to saying "Light Novel" which is pretty straight forward, like "light reading", you aren't a Neanderthal, you can understand english, light novel is an effective and adequate term for short books from Japan (and in general).

I think that Michael, and people in general, are used to hearing terms like 'Short Story' and 'Novella'.

Given that in Japan a 'Visual Novel' is a type of computerized picture book, you could think that a 'Light Novel' could be a shorter or watered-down type of computerized picture book.

That's just one conclusion that you could reach, but it makes sense when taken in context. Especially since many things don't have names that are intuitive.
