Puella Magi Madoka Magica
I have yet again come across another variation of what I am now calling the Format Dilemma, in which the same story has been published more than once in a similar medium. In this case, I cannot decide whether to watch the original animu or the three part movie trilogy. What do you think?
Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Shits awesome, and the psp game is almost finished being translated. I watched anime then 3rd movie. 3rd movie is jarring at first but it's great when it gets rolling.

The anime has phenomenal pacing after episode 2, so you won't regret it if you watch that first. I haven't watched any of the movies yet, but I can vouch for the anime.

Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
The art style seems kinda like incomplete marker shading at times, and then there is the witch worlds being made out of magazine clippings, but it's legit I guess. God dam I still dunno if I should watch the first 2 movies or the anime, I'm only 3 episodes into the latter.
Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
I'll admit the artstyle is weird in a few places, though I do like what they did with the witche's mazes because they seem like a totally different world.
Watch the movies if you want a quick summary of the anime, watch the show if you want all the character development that happens. Watch the 3rd movie no matter what you pick.
Oh yeah a compare and contrast with the original and rebroadcast versions. Main difference is correcting mistakes in the scenery, character placements, to full blown redos of scenes:

Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
dafuq it's like they decided to change it from a normal city to one in which every building looks like an art piece.
Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
They touched up on alot of things in rebroadcast episodes, lot of them for the better, the first episode's entire soundtrack was played at a slower speed when it first aired.
