It has really been a while since I updated the announcements...better start timestamping stuff! -- May 19th, 2011
But actually I stopped because my announcements are too trivial and nonsensical to be worth remembering.
I leave the following line up for nostalgia purposes as well:

An anime based on the psp visual novel is out this season. It's a mystery/horror show that seems to be quite interesting. Since I have played the game, I will say that the plot is very well thought out. Overall, I think this is a good watch.

Just saw the pilot, looks very promising. That weird short in the beginning really helped to set up the delightfully sadistic atmosphere. Will they take an Ensemble Cast approach or just focus on the generic protagonist guy? I guess since it's based on a game where you play the guy....

Now that I think of it, one way to ensure that you escape is to just kill everyone else. Then no one can vote for you to be the murderer because no one else exists.

Yeah but it would be pretty hard to kill every single person before your first murder is discovered. After that, everyone would be on heightened alert, and then you have to kill the rest with added difficulty before the trial session in order to have zero risk of being convicted.

Now that I think about it this is more like a Vampire Hunt/Mafia game than an Umineko battle of wits, which is interesting because I've always wondered how to set those up so that actual investigation of the murder and suspects could be done instead of random flailing and baseless accusations.

Lol, baseless accusations help to provoke reactions so that you can figure out who is actually the mafia. I feel that random flailing and baseless accusations is an integral part of the strategy in a Mafia game where you can see each other.

It would be kinda hard to have evidence in a Mafia game though.

Sorry for the necro, but for anyone who wants to play the translated rom go here and use this emulator. The localization can be compared to the phoenix wright games, sans moving the series from japan to america for some reason.

Edit: Also the 1st and possibly 2nd game will be coming out on the vita.
