Re: Your Political Compass
I'm not going to do this test, some of these agree/disagree questions are bogus.
"Our race has many superior qualities, compared with other races."
What? I would think only Lawful-Insane people would agree with this
"Governments should penalise businesses that mislead the public."
"If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations."
Duh. I don't think anyone, left/right or authoritarian/libertarian would disagree with these.

I agree. At least those personality type tests like MBTI are based off of statistically significant strata.
Political axes of any kind are silly and not very useful at explaning anything other than the test-maker's preconceptions and subjective definitions. Left and Right are just clusters of normative policy opinions that group roughly 50% of the country each (a direct result of our electoral system). No one agrees with the totality of their preferred candidate's views, it's almost always the "lesser of two evils." The test maker here clearly either doesn't understand this or is purposefully adopting a gross oversimplification of the opinion space.
The added section with "this is how historical figures would have scored" is laughable as well. I certainly don't view myself as being a raving lunatic, so seeing my result was worth a chortle. I thought it ironic that my actual test results reflected the charicature of my beliefs that I presented in the awesome sauce thread. In a world of false dichotomies, the only thing that can really exist is a charicature.
In addition to the questions you identified, there's also the "true art" question and a host of black-and-white "always" and "never" questions. To group someone in with 150 million people because of their responses to these questions is a travesty at best and a duplicity at worst. It's like turning real life into a political cartoon.
Still, I thought it was worth a laugh!
