It has really been a while since I updated the announcements...better start timestamping stuff! -- May 19th, 2011
But actually I stopped because my announcements are too trivial and nonsensical to be worth remembering.
I leave the following line up for nostalgia purposes as well:

THE 6TH DAY
February 5th, 2047
Weather: Bright and Sunny


The news is for some reason displayed in colorful 8 bit format.
A blue screen.
In 2047, war was beginning.
In a split screen, yellow infantry soldiers confront a company of tall beige spider-like machines. The machines charge and fire their large cannons, it seems as if space itself warps around the shots. The other side is entirely obliterated.
Live video from Tokyo appears, still in 8 bit. There appears to be a good deal of violence taking place.
Static constantly disrupts the transmission.
"The government has authorized a full revitalization of the Japanese military force to fight off the invading menace. We encourage everyone to do their part. No word yet from the UN on whether this violates the treaty considering current-"
"-Church is in open support of-"

Round 1 is on, let's go.
