It has really been a while since I updated the announcements...better start timestamping stuff! -- May 19th, 2011
But actually I stopped because my announcements are too trivial and nonsensical to be worth remembering.
I leave the following line up for nostalgia purposes as well:

although . . . . the rod can take any form, so he could have it take a form, that would allow him to guard against or avoid the chains.

Sunwukong actually was made enlightened by Buddha at the end of the story, but he was made a Bodhisattva; someone who refrains from reaching Nirvana in order to teach others.

Plus, he is an immortal himself; which exempts him from becoming one with the Buddha in this particular Canon.

Not sure about Enkidu...I'm pretty sure Sunwukong can transform into a flea and fly out. Unless chains stop transformations?
