It'll be good to have a post where you state your master/servant pairs so others can see who you use and plan accordingly

My top 4 are

#1. Saber + Shiro
#2. Saber + Sorchiro
#3. Gil + Shiro
#4. Gil + Sorchiro
#5. Saber Alter + Shiro

However I only use the top four mainly. The 5th i suck with.

personally i think kirei is the best combatitive master in terms of fighting capability.

that is because only meroy and felix can use rin properly. you also aren't taking bazett into consideration because only michael uses her.

no, it's because of the following:
a) kirei has some range attacks, a good range melee (falcon punch) and a great special, so overall he is balanced.
b) his melees have decent range and some good punch to them (fist mash attack, falcon punch, scissor kick, etc)

I guess I haven't seen a good rin but as for the bazzet she is melee focused, and in a master I feel like balance is more important, they should have the capability to handle anyone with above crappy response (aka not sakura). So yeah rin has definitely got that capability and kirei has it, but bazzet and soichiro don't.

Also shiro just feels subpar to kirei from what I have seen.

yeah, it is, and in a way doesnt isnt balanced the opposite of unbalanced, though i dont really use kirei's range that much (considering he has two range attacks, one i never use) i mainly use his melee and you know that, and his melee counterbalances gilgameshes loads of range.

I seem to recall kirei's various painful mid-range and long range attacks, not understanding how gil balances those.

kirei doesnt have a lot of those ranged black key attacks (like 2 not counting ground punish), and at the same point gilgamesh has like no special melees, he has the counter, the scythe (close version), and the hammer (which is like a medium short range)

well you won't because your netplay sucks, so your opinion is officially biased beyond salvation. and I'm not only talking about his black keys, he has nasty mid ranges like the falcon punch and command grab, those things reach across half the screen.

it really won't work, ask kelvin, or anyone who I have tried to do netplay with, it just doesn't work. If my netplay worked, I would play regardless win or lose, it really doesn't work.

@ Wayne: I don't need to vs them to consider them good, I mean if I just saw some really good Rin use then I would change my mind, don't assume things. And yeah those moves are mid range, but they are melee all the same, they still have to reach the opponent and hit/grab them in order to work.

and when exactly would you see some really good Rin if you are never doing netplay and none of us play Rin huh? and don't ALL attacks have to reach and hit the opponent in order to work? an attack is considered mid range when it can hit you from halfway across the screen which is what kirei does with falcon punch. because if we just went by the simple 'melee' definition then technically saber and lancer's super charge attacks are close range.

avengers weapon toss is mid range. sabers charge, lancers super charge and kireis step and punch are closing attacks, the attack must hit at close range in order to work.

Another example of mid range would be riders chain no? She herself doesn't have to be within like 3 feet for the attack to hit, she can have some decent space between her and the opponent and still hit. Casters grab is also mid range.

yeah those attacks are all mid range I don't see your point though. you can still get hit by any of those 'closing' attacks if you are NOT at close range. this is not like if you just walk up to them and attack, because they are vulnerable while they are closing. These attacks close the distance without making you vulnerable to being interrupted by the opponents close range attacks, same deal as all the other midrange attacks.

you can use the trip attack against kirei punch (well with assassin) and saber charge, you can't exactly use the trip attack against avengers chakram or riders chain daggers.

rider's is dodgdeable, and avenger's is slow and easy to jump/block

if she's not at max range you can. its more of a mid-long range attack anyway since rider has no long range.

-.- ok fine thats like saying avengers chakram attack is vulnerable to sakuras vector thingies, ok so let me restate what I think counts at least partially as a close range attack:

An attack where the attacker must go within the range of the average distance of a generic melee attack (averaged from the distance of the melees of all the characters) or the attacker ends withing range that the defender is threatened by the attackers melee range. The attack also does not have a motion that returns the character to a distance in it (for instance avengers ground punish where he like dances on the person and the jump back) through normal use (if someone does some weird counter that sends the person back that is different).

for simpler terms: The attacker must be within the defenders melee threat range by the end of the attack or with in a distance so that their melee range threatens the defender and the attack can't include a retreat motion.
