Campaign pt1

*I labeled it pt1 so that way we know which one to check for current stuff, look for the latest version, otherwise this topic would become way too long to search through for things. at the end of each part we can just lock the topic.

Universe backstory: Everything started in harmony but as time went on the beings of world, gods, demons, creatures and all. But as time went on things began to grow to evil, good, law and chaos, the gods became enemies and the creatures began wars and killing. In current day parts of the world have developed nations with governments (stable enough to keep the country going) while other parts of the world are lands of disarray, chaos, the scarce civilization found in these lands is in the form of refuge camps, hidden villages, barbarian hordes or bandits.

Introduction:
(this is all your fault if you don't like it) Harmony and cooperation was encouraged for all the peoples of the earth. This had worked out in most interracial interactions. Unfortunately orcs were heavily discriminated against because of their racial color and poor spelling. Half Orcs are a rare breed in Redundancion, but very useful in having a perfect balance of mental and physical strength. Ruling Society is mostly based on the quantity and quality of magic users working for a kingdom's bureacracy, resulting in the dominance of mages in the general class hierarchy. A certain fringe of elves that believed in citizen equality regardless of magical talent retreated to hiding in secret strongholds, cultivating a different kind of society isolated from the outside world. To defend themselves from the vicious bandits, most notably the infamous Land Pirates, they developed a school of longbow archery that utilized basic magecraft techniques.(Kinda like shiro at the archery range in school).

Is there a set date for this to begin?

(I AM DONE WAITING, I AM JUMP STARTING THIS HERE AND NOW, I will be doing this from a first person perspective so that the gm can pick up and do his stuff as soon as he can, also only respond if you actually find it appropriate, if your character wouldn't be there, don't do anything).

lets begin:
The sky is bereft of any clouds or life, the grass covered hills go on forever to either side of the old path I am travelling on. The sun is at the peak of its path in the sky . . . it is torturously warm and humid. I go on for what seems like an hour, it could have been more, my sense of time has long been lost since daybreak. I find a tree standing off in the middle of the plains, seeing that no other chance of solice from the harsh sun may come for a distance I decide to take a rest under the tree and give water to my horse. I lay back against the tree and think about what has happened to me just recently.

As I walk down the same, boring path I have for three days, I see a stranger sitting under a lonesome tree, he could probably use my assistance...

I lazily look around and spot a person, seeming to look like a human, a woman, coming from the path I had just traveled down. I dart up and keep my hand on my shortsword, looking cautiously at the approaching human.

(Big Rule: When you take an action like approach someone, wait to check for a response, they might do something like ya know . . . ask who you are, don't just be like: I approach the man and ask him if I can sit down, sometimes it fits, but definitely not when you are talking to another pc

Other rule: When you do something like: I ask the man for directions, when talking to another pc or major character, actually say what you are asking ex: "Sir, you wouldn't know where I can reach Bermier can you?")

"Excuse me sir, may I sit?"

Taken aback by the womans abrupt nature I looked stunned for a second, I quickly go back to my paranoid self, "And who might you be?"

talking to myself i wander through the plains. I dont notice the heat becuase this is where i was raised

"Asdar Vaien, Sir" I reply, curtsying shallowly.

Not to far away i see a tree that looks nice and shady. I deceide the tree would be a nice resting place before i continue moving

OK PAUSE - I can delete any posts

lets get it kinda straight, this is purely to get wayne to either a) roll with this start or b) delete this one and make his own

@stephen - the idea is that wayne would have separate threads running, where he is in charge of all of them (this is why google wave is best), in this scene it gets really confusing if two stories are going on at the same time, in short: harass wayne to get started.

Ok I'm really lazy so this is ok, but make sure you keep everything separate until you all meet up.

Btw this is a great time to go do another rant:

An emergent campaign is driven by the players and kept alive by the gm, you can have wayne start you off, but you can also go start up another meeting somewhere near this town that eveyone is headed to.

The idea is that it will be a linear part in the beginning just to have everyone meet up, then people can do what they want to.

And then wayne is everything that isn't us, wars that are happening, shop keepers, bandits, monsters, forces of nature, etc.

So as long as its relevant we can have our chars do anything and we do it all on GW

Correct, but again your character is YOU, and he can do whatever he wants (well there are people who may try to stop him/her). No asian parents making you go to college, no county policies against weapons.

since you are starting out solo, go make a solo wave with wayne and go rp it out

since the beginning is kinda preset, just so we can meet up: everyone get to this village called Del' Nor, it will be a medium sized town.

@stephen: Your character is a half-orc, this is like a black guy in the 1960's, people don't see you in a good light.

here is the reason: so that you can inform Wayne when a new wave is made and he needs to check on it, I personally don't expect him to be able to keep track of all the waves by himself.

Maybe its because I don't know anything about google wave but how do I join?

you click new wave, then you click on the plus sign near your pic on top of the "wave" to add people, if a wave already exists you need to be added to it by someone in the wave. After the beginning it should be pretty straightforward who is in which waves, this way we don't know precisely what the other group(s) is doing at the same time, otherwise we could do crazy co-ordinated stuff in perfect synch.

I'm kinda curious though. How come we didnt use a program like MIRC for this?

Because googlewave keeps what people type there , for pretty much ever. This way people don't have to all be present at the same time, we can take it easy.
