Gil-sama, Windless, Grimwind, and friends were halfway through the process of converting all the forum crap for CFF into nice clean character guides when the forum closed down. What they have is still up there, just go here:
http://www1.atwiki.com/moonrecords/
click on fan content, then CFF.
Haha my signature team, Kirei/Archer is the Most Versatile pair as described by the guides. Most versatile servant and most versatile master.

the issue with versatility is you need to be at least 1% more pro with them then the other person is with their character.

Well wayne....

archer does has some range and close up combat and so does kirei.

But then saber is just somewhat fast and sorchiro is probably the fastest master.

So I got a fast team YAY

All the same, its more efficient to use masters and servants that counter balance each other, then using two characters that are already balanced.

Lawl the most balanced team is Illya/Saber, a bit too balanced.
Soiichiro is actually pretty slow... Bazette and Kirei are faster.

@wayne: my point exactly

you want stuff to mix, even if its not a perfect counter balance, ex: lancer + kirei, lancer has great closing and awesome sauce speed and kirei has some range and some nice heavy hit attacks.
