New labtop
Ok so I am going to be able to get a computer in the $1000 area. I would prefer it be a labtop but if someone has a convincing arguement for a desktop I am all ears.
I want the computer to be able to do both games AND work.
I probably don't plan on torrenting on the new one because of virus fear.
If I can get this order setup fast enough I can have it ready for the sc2 release, and since I didn't really want much for my birthday I decided to get sc2.
So does anyone have any suggestions?
What parts are great right now for this kind of computer?

Re: New labtop
Thats not a problem, also I want to mention I can get some discounts on it, though more for less is still good. I will look into the Dell XPS.
My friend has an acis lab that is pretty good, most of you, in fact I am pretty sure only 1 of you knows what the capital city dalaran from WoW is like, but if your computer can run smooth there, it can run anything smoothly.
Also I want to know about whats the best graphics cards out right now.

Re: New labtop
Oh wow, laptop is not spelled with a b. if its a bad habit, just say notebook computer. I'm assuming you want the most bang for your buck(MPC term, I know -.-) so anything lower than a core i5 and 3gb is out of the question. Now if you aren't going to bring it anywhere (like say a lan party which we don't have) then you should get a desktop because they have better and more efficient cooling systems, plus if you have a surround sound 3.1 or above and more than 2 monitors it saves a lot of cable hassle by spreading it out. But that's just me. For a prefab laptop that fits your range and um...doesn't meet my standards but none of us play far cry 2 anyway...ugh. sorry, everything that looks good to me is like $2k and up. What I'd what would have at least 4gb ram, core i7 preferably overclocked, a geforce 300 series or higher, a ton of usb ports, and full keyboard.
The best graphics card out there is the Geforce GTX470 X2, but that hasn't been released to the market, so its either the GTX480 or the Radeon HD5450, I used to be up to date with which company was better(nVidia or ATI) but not anymore so it's your call.
Right now I think the Asus N61J is good.

Re: New labtop
The GeForce 9800 series are really good, and not too expensive anymore.

Re: New labtop
Accept only the best you n00b. You might as well go get a Pentium 4 with the ibuypower mobo and 1 gb ram, that's not too expensive anymore either BECAUSE IT WAS NEW 5 YEARS AGO.
Re: New labtop
it should have the following at the VERY minimum:
i7 core
8gb ram
(a good graphics card that I still have to find)
I get that it is alot to ask for but I will be picky until I can find the closest product to my target.

Re: New labtop
get the newegg one. that best buy page doesn't work and I don't like general tech store prefabs. also if you know how then overclock it.
Re: New labtop
Overclock it? Also ahead of time, alot of people said that the computer comes with a lot of bloatware on it, how do I get rid of all that stuff?

Re: New labtop
It is in the reviews, people mention lots of bloatware, I assume a term for pointless software that takes up space.

Re: New labtop
here's easy peasy solution that gets rid of all the useless stuff, period. format your hard drive and install a barebones OS. if you don't have a windows 7 install disc then get one. You can install any other software you need from the original cd or via flash drive from your old comps.
Re: New labtop
meh either way I need to know which to buy, and the more expensive one looks so damn fly. its got like jet engine coolers going out the back,

Re: New labtop
Just get the more expensive one. and maybe a windows 7 disc if they don't give you one already.
Re: New labtop
they give me windows 7 preloaded on the computer. also the fun part is I get to keep my desktop instead of handing it down to my little brother or some crap.

Re: New labtop
well then, you should go buy windows 7, so you can reinstall it after you format the drive. You do want to wipe out the bloatware right? Formattin the drive permanently destroys all data on it. shut it down, then reboot with the windows 7 disc. You'll still have an OS, but not all the gay trialware and stuff.
Re: New labtop
WOOT WOOT I get to buy the awesome sauce laptop. And right before sc2 comes out, max graphics settings is going to be effing awesome.
